Kaabil is making the most out of the opportunity in hand. It has everything going in its favor as far as the content and the appreciation is concerned. There is unanimous critical acclaim as well as positive word of mouth which has set it well on the right path. No one has come out of the theaters and said anything negative about the film. Those who are watching it are at the least 'liking' it and majority are finding it to be 'very good'. In that aspect, there is nothing about the film to be complained about. What has to be taken into consideration though is the massive challenge it has from another well received film, Raees, due to which only 40% screens are available.
This is the reason why Rs. 15.05 crore more that Kaabil managed to collect on Sunday is good, though it would have definitely gone much ahead had it arrived solo. The Hrithik Roshan starrer had seen a peak of Rs. 18.67 crore and was pretty much running close to the optimum on Sunday as well. What prevented it from covering a much larger distance was the fact that it was not the only choice available for the audience.
Nonetheless, the film is currently standing at Rs. 67.46 crore and that is a number good enough to promise safe returns for the Rakesh Roshan production in the long run. The film further gains from the fact that the week ahead is open and that would allow it to earn even more. Yes, piracy has happened too in the interim period but then that is one evil which needs drastic measures to be curtailed. Filmmakers would have to live with this menace till that finally happens.
