About a week ago we had reported that the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal which released in China a few weeks ago had managed to breach the Rs. 1500 crore mark at the world wide box office. Now a week later, the Nitesh Tiwari directed film Dangal has managed to set a new record by crossing the Rs. 1700 crore mark. In fact the film despite new releases in China has been enjoying a stellar run at the box office, raking in the moolah.
Now after its 28 day run in theatres within China, Dangal has managed to collect USD 159.38 million [Rs. 1026 cr], while the film still continues to run in this territory, its worldwide collections have surpassed that of the previously released mega money spinner Baahubali 2 by a huge margin. While Baahubali 2 had collected Rs. 1530 cr at the global box office, the China collections of Dangal coupled with the collections from Taiwan of Rs. 32.34 cr and the collections from the rest of the worldwide markets (excluding China and Taiwan) of Rs. 716 cr, the total global collections of Dangal are currently pegged at a stagger Rs. 1774.34 cr.
With this Dangal has now become the first Indian film to achieve this benchmark of collecting well over Rs. 1700 cr at the worldwide box office.
