‘Raavan’ has been promoted as Maniratnam take on Ramayana. He seems to have gone Ram Gopal Varma making such a crazy film. I can’t even think Sita developing any kind of feelings for Raavan. They have shown in the movie Sita getting attracted towards Raavan. It will the hurt the religious sentiments of Hindu’s in the country. How can Aishwariya Rai and Abhishek Bachan sign such a film? We don’t accept such things from Bachan Parivaar. They have to take care of religious sentiments of their fans. We don’t mind them doing negative roles or Grey characters. The movie is complete bakwaas. The cinematography is the only plus point. Aishwariya Rai should start doing roles of her age. The age can be noticed on her face. Her prime time is over and today belongs to Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra.

Ace Filmmaker Mani Ratnam returns after the Masterstroke 'Guru', this time the legendary genius returns with a film that is in love with 'Ramayana', the indian epic! 'Raavan' is finally here... Now here's the bitter truth: 'Raavan' is a poor show all the way. Ratnam's direction is prolific, but the screenplay is dull and wild. It has a dull, pointless and violent first hour which bores. The second hour is better... but is later on stabbed by the highly unconvincing end. One just doesn't feel nice and engergetic once he's out of this world Raavan! As simple as that! A Major Letdown!

Technically speaking Its AWESOME as far as Photography, set designs, background score, action and other aspects are concern. A.R. Rehmaan's Music is TOP-NOTCH. But Films screenplay disappoints. Specially first half has repeatative scenes of abhi-ash. Second half atleast has some pace. Also its Drama like treatment, Aaadiwasi Junglee background and very less entertainment quotient will keep the film in red. On the Whole its a disappointment from the maker like Mani. but better than kites..ha ha.

One of the Most awaited movies of the year RAAVAN finally arrives. Here goes my review. If one watches it from the story point of view one may not like it.as it is the old kidnapping and revenge story which may not attaract everyone. But the way the great movie maker has presented is too good. The kerala forest shooting and the screenplay / camera works is very good. Abhishek has done a nice job and if you remove him and rahmans music from the movie there is nothing left.Amongst the other characters Vikram is good and I think he will rock the tamil version where he plays the role of abhishek and rest all remains same. As one of the comments rightly say,The tamil version is going to be hit and the hindi will be avaerage. This is correct because the south indian audience appreciates the cinematography, music and such well presented movies more than the non south indian audience. The movie starts with a fantastic shot of abhishek jumping and the beera song.It then tends to become a bit slow at times esp when the song Khili re comes which, with all respect to rahman,i think was not required in the movie. The 2nd half is much stronger which is ideally required in a good movie and hence makes it up for the comparitvely slow 1st half. Govinda is just OK.i think Rajpal yadav could have done better in that role. Even Ravi kishan has done a good job. As taran adarsh( the official movie review writer) talks about the factors that pull this film down which is correct to a certain extent. First and foremost, when you've a title like RAAVAN, the demon king, who couldn't be vanquished by Gods, demons or spirits, you expect Raavan aka Beera to be equally powerful, who could send a chill down your spine, who spells terror and fear. But, in RAAVAN, Beera comes across as a psycho .Also, his makeup and also the shabby avtaars of his family/henchmen is not something that makes them looks menacing. The fight on the bridge -- between Abhishek and Vikram -- is astounding. One hasn't watched something like this on the Hindi screen yet. A.R. Rahman's music is excellent and the visual appeal only enhances the impact. Overall i would give a 3 out of 5 and suggest it only for people to have liked previous mani rathnam movies,Otherwise criticism is always there from some or the other person!!!

Raavan and Raavanan is a geniune effort. It should be watched and will be liked by people. It's a different genre which the audience is probably not used to against the crappy stuff thrown in the name of movies at them. Everything from cinematography, story, acting, sets is fantastic. Abhishek, Aishwarya ( awesome ), Govinda and Vikram. Vikram is superb in Tamil version too. Honestly speaking Hindi film audience doesn't deserve a film like Raavan or Raavanan ( with sub titles ). I guess they will be happy with some crappy films thrown at them recently ...biggest crappy eg: Housefull. And I am suprised Taran Adarsh whose reviews I read ripped apart and scrutinised film like RAAVAN in such detail that he forgets "under the name of entertainment" he gives a green signal to films like Housefull and Kambaqt ishq. So why is he doing this to good films ?? But I will blame the Hindi film audience for the state of our movies.
