Bombay Police are confronted with a crime wave from assorted gangsters and decide to enlist the assistance of a Calcutta-based police inspector, who resembles a deceased gangster, Rangooni (Pradeep Kumar). The latter arrives in Bombay along with Chakrapani Goswami (Dhumal) and manages to convince the underworld that he is indeed who he claims to be. His efforts to combat crime will be seriously challenged when he will be turned in by Manju (Madhubala), the Warden Road-based daughter of wealthy Rai Bahadur (Om Prakash). He does manage to break-out and creates waves when the police as well as Rai find out that he has abducted Manju and will only return her after he gets a ransom of Rs.1 Lakh Rupees.
