When I decide to watch Phoonk, its because of its promos and reviews. Its was looking very scary and dark. Normally, for me, RGV isn't in my favourait list. I never looked Darna Manaa hai or Darna Zaroori. As for his films, I liked, Bhoot, Raat, Rangeela, Company, Sarkar. Now its now turning to Phoonk.
Phoonk is a story of revenge by black magic which is made on a child. Rajiv and his family : his wife, his mom, his son and his daughter lived happily. They have 2 employees, who has been out from his company for fraud. And the wife knows black magic. She tried on his child for revange.
Its between your believe and un-believe. Its works only because of black magic as most people still interested in those kind of things. The starless film is a fine product in terms of its story. The 1st half is just ok while the second halp goes very high ttill the climax. No places for songs, and the film got correct editing.
But in terms of background scores, the music is just medium which makes something down in flavours of horror for phoonk. The cinematography is good. RGV is this time in correct form after douple disaters like DARNA MANA HAI AND DARNA ZAROORI. This time, he knows... daraana zaroori hai. But its didn't as scary as its must be. Only the last 50-1:00 hours is scary. The climax is the best.
As for actors, they are really competent. Rajiv is in top form. While, the girl is the biggest star of the film, Watch out for her expressions. Amruta could do better. Rajiv mom is effective. But the best is Ashwini Kalsekar. She is the show stealer. After her role in Kasam Se (TV serial), she's got the right role. She's excellent in pre-climax scenes.
Finally, Phoonk runs as a fine product from RGV. Its worth to watch it for fun when you don't believe. Its a much watch for the people who interested much in Black Magic.
