Love Aaj Kal is special for various reasons.
• Its mark the Imtiaz Ali’s film after a critical acclaimed “Socha Naa Tha” and critical and commercial Blockbuster “Jab We Met”.
• Its features “Saif Ali Khan” and “Deepika Padukone” for the first time.
• Its features again, Pritam as music director after “Jab We Met”.
As expectations are huges, the comparaison to last outing of Imitiaz-Pritam combo’s Jab We Met is undeniable. Will it succeed? Let’s check it out.
The album start with a Punjabi flavor, “Ahaun Ahaun” sung by Neeraj Sridhar, Master Saleem and Suzanne. The music makes a great impact in parts of song but it is not the song which will stand out as a classic. Especially the Punjabi lyrics are extraordinary. It can be much more better? Who knows!
After that, comes a great catchy music, (as we can compare to Mauja Hi Mauja), named “Twist”. The been (Flute) tunes almost 100% similar to Nagin Track, mark huge. When it comes to lyric, it fails. Coz, lyric is not as easy to be catchy on lips. Specially the rap part! “Alloma se….” what’s that? Overall, its an entertaining track in term of music and remix.
Moving to Next, “Chor Bazari” is soft but just about ok. Neeraj and Sunidhi voices are best in song, but it has nothing memorable. Tunes are nice to hear. Overall, an average number.
Moving to the best song of the album, “Yeh Dooriyan” is another hat trick for Mohit Chauhan. Is This Love (Kismat Konnection), Tum Se Hi (Jab We Met), he brings the same magic. We can say, his voice suited best to Shahid. Lyric are extremely good as well as the tunes. As mentioned before, it’s the BEST track of the whole album.
“Aaj Din Chadheya” doesn’t promises much for its singer, “Rahet Fateh Ali Khan”. The lyric has a classic feel to it. Tunes are stickely ok. Another Punjabi flavor, “Thoda Thoda Pyar” takes back the album high. Get ready for some punjabi’s shava shava. Sunidhi Chauhan gives are best effort to the song. Tunes make you groove. Another good song from the album. KK comes lastly with “Main Kya Hoon” which is the combo of good lyric with some ok tunes. Nothing more, nothing less.
Overall, love Aaj Kal is a DECENT album but comparing to Jab We Met, its much more lower. In Jab We Met, Mauja Hi Mauja, Tum Se Hi, Milo Chaleen, Nagaraa, Yeh Ishq Hai, Aao Ge Jab Tum, all track will remains as classic. In LOVE AAJ KAL, except “Yeh Dooriyan”, no other song makes such impact. Twist, Thoda Thoda Pyar, Ahaun Ahaun, has potential to find it listeners but not for long!
