I have given rating 10/10 not just for the sake of Rajinikanth. Movie is awesome! It is a superb movie to watch but not with an out of the box storyline. Still It makes no flaw in cast building. Storyline is more of Revenge type. The essential part here is how effectively they have captured rajinikanth's inimitable style and look is highly appreciable. Rajinikanth's usual energy and dialogue delivery is fantastic. You might feel it is animation movie for the first 10/15 minutes. it is OK. But after that his intensive action sequence and dialogue will make an adrenaline rush in your body and you feel part of the movie. Guaranteed! There are minor flaws in the animation and syncing voice/face expression that does not mean you will less enjoy this movie. You will have a full meal! Rajinikanth Live long! Let Soundarya make part 2 of Kochadaiyaan where she will correct all the misses in this film. Though she is a first timer She have made a commendable job! Hats off! JaiHind!

Kochadaiiyaan first performance capture movie in India. It is not an easy thing to create a mega budget animated movie with a good marketing status in India. It is possible only with the presence of Superstars like Rajnikanth. Expectation among the fans were high (Kochadaiiyaan visuals will be similar to Avatar or Adventures of Tintin), anyhow trailer received a mixed response only. But a historic story with energetic dialogue leads the movie till the end with decent result in this brave attempt. The big name Rajnikanth keeps cheering always. Another big name A.R.Rahman, made an experimental BGM through the movie which keep us attractive. Positive signs of performance capture technology: -Absolutely brilliant 3D effects in the action sequences which is new to our fans. -Legendary actor late Nagesh is recreated. -Hope in future we can reach the Hollywood movies with a reasonable budget. Cast also includes Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone which will be a big box office factor in North India. With this summer Kochadaiiyaan is going to be a good entertaining movie for family audience. Remember Kochadaiiyaan is not a Hollywood movie like 'The Adventures of Tintin' or 'Avatar' but it is the best Indian animated movie. Verdict: If you watch the 'Kochadaiiyaan' in big screen defiantly it would be a great experience.

I remember after watching Avatar, for the first time I saw ALL of the audience sitting until end of the credits. Today, I saw it happening again for the first time for a Tamil movie. Malaysian Indians being very conservative, I was even surprised to see some of the ladies (not girls) clapping at the end of the credits. I have never seen it happen for an Indian movie in Malaysia. That shows the brilliance of this movie. I loved it, some scenes such as between the father and son before the father is killed even made me shed tears. The Dance of Shiva and the fight scene of Princess Vadhana fighting with 'villain' stands out for me. I'm thinking of going for a second show, the first for me for a Tamil film. Loved it.

One may easily predict the graphic quality of Kochadaiiyaan, from the 2 min trailer as - "not up to the mark". They are not to be blamed, as Kochadaiiyaan stand below the fellow movies like Tin Tin, Avatar (as they claim). But what the people don't understand is that it is new to Indian Cinema as many of them have not heard of the technique before. Even the film is made in one of the Hollywood studios ( Centroid ) it failed to show the difference, may be they used their amateur techies for their small client (budget of the movie is just 125 crores Indian Rupee) . After all, as I said, it is a first attempt. But we have to admit that the production failed to understand- " First impression is the best impression". Enough about the tech-quality !!! Talking about the story, it is simple, crystal clear, don't-think-too- much-just-sit-and-enjoy type. For a movie hardly running to 120 minutes, what we need is a clear plot and bounding screenplay. I think the script writers knows it. It is an Indian movie, so expect some music numbers. Background score is done by Academy Award winning A.R.Rahman. RAJINIKANTH - the man made it once again. It is truly his own show right from the title card. We all know his voice can make wonders and yet it does. It is a treat to his large fan base in south India. So, altogether the movie is worth watching once in theaters. The movie is worth giving 7, but 1 for first attempt from freshers.

Hero taking revenge on Villain is the crux of Kochadaiiyaan.. What is different in the film is the technique used in the movie, which is absolutely new to Indian films and is definitely interesting. From the beginning to the end the movie keeps you hooked up with , thanks to our Superstar and his styles. I can clearly see with how much passion was this movie crafted. Likable and enjoyable characters ( Legendary actor Nagesh does a cameo and brings in lot of value ) . Simple yet top-notch dialog s. Known story yet, unique and refreshing in its own way. Even those simple scenes like Rajini s eye-contact engulf you with emotion. And, of course there is one huge plus for the movie. The background musical score. Cannot have a complete review of this film without penning few complements on the Maestro. There's nothing to do, every piece of music he creates is able to touch the deepest strings of our hearts. With a soundtrack that ranges from the epic tones to the mysterious ones he gives us another example of his limitless genius. The story line of the film is interesting and has a touch of KS Ravikumar flavor all over. Nonetheless, you can't consider story as the best aspect of the film. Its the screenplay that ll keep you glued to seat till the end . The right combination of having the most stylish protagonist, a clever script , and a sincere effort to bring in new technology to Indian films , make this flick a blast from start to finish. The 3D technology is not used to its full potential here. This has been in the reckoning for quite a long time and this happens to be the first ingenuously made graphic movie using motion capture technology in India. Though it cannot be compared with the Hollywood flicks budgets it must be said that the hard work is seen and one can see the brilliance in visual effects. After seeing the trailer and few promos , I was a little skeptical of going to see this one. It surprised me though..it threw things at me that I wasn't expecting. To Sum up, it would be a inappropriate to say Kochadaiiyaan was awful, which its not, but despite having the one and only Superstar , its good, not great !!

Love this movie...! Waiting for the second part... First thing i would like to say is animation is very difficult and that too with motion capture technology. This movie has not brought the best of animation in every areas, in certain places it was marvellous. Especially the Siva Thandavam by Kochadaiyan is the best scene in the movie. Concentration in facial expressions and apart from Super Star Ranjinikanth, other characters can be shown a little more effectively. Overall it scores in below aspects Screenplay Songs BGM Animation (Dance) Dialogues (MASS) Ranjini Sir (He is the major part) Can be corrected in the following aspects: Animation (Concentration in background) Editing Voice synchronization I give 10 points... Because i love you Thalaiva... You are the best..... Dialogues were awesome

Kochadaiiyaan opens with a prologue that tells us that the two kingdoms, Kottaipattinam and Kalingapuri, have been at war with one another for generations. We see a boy from Kottaipattinam, who is about to drown, being rescued and the boy, Rana, grows up to become a soldier in Kalingapuri. He earns the friendship of the prince Veera Mahendran, and is made the general of its army. He seeks the king's permission to attack their enemy nation but on the battlefield, Rana reveals himself to be the son of Kochadaiiyaan, the famed general of Kottaipattinam and admits that he enacted a drama to rescue the soldiers of his motherland, who were being held as slave labourers there. Rana is received with joy by his king and even gets him to marry the prince to his sister, but he also has an ulterior motive — to kill the king, who had unfairly sentenced his father to death. Kochadaiiyaan succeeds not because of technology but because of the writing. The film is motion capture 3D computer-animated but the animation is primeval; both the motion capture and the texture of the visuals are closer to The Polar Express than Avatar or Tintin. The long shots aren't problematic but whenever the camera cuts to a close-up, we are drawn to the inanimate nature of the expressions. The characters feel like caricatures of the real-life actors we have known. The movements of the actors, too, are robotic (in dance numbers, it feels like the characters are doing yoga), and the detailing is far from perfect, especially for characters in the background. There is also inconsistency in the animation. Some of the scenes seem to have sheen while in some the perspective fluctuates; there are times when a boulder looks as big as the man standing on it and blades of grass look like miniature paddy plants. But the sweeping camera work, the proficient voice over work by the actors, and the energetic background score compensate for these blemishes. Once the plot kicks into gear, the animation takes a backseat and the narration starts to hold our attention. The songs and the stunts are woven into the story and do not stick out. Like any other Rajini movie, Kochadaiiyaan, too, worships its star. His character appears in almost every scene and there are fan-pleasing moments in the form of stylistic gestures and dialogues. The story initially seems like a typical simplistic revenge fantasy (a son avenging his father's death) but as the plot progresses, we realize it is a bit more complex than that. The film actually ends by leaving its lead character in a moral dilemma. His family has served the king and protected him for generations but now, the son has acted otherwise. What fate does his action beget him? What happened to Rana's elder brother who has vanished mysteriously? Where is his friend who abdicated the throne to marry the girl he loved and chose to leave his kingdom? Will the enemy prince that Rana let live return? With such interesting questions, Soundarya has set up the knot for a deserving sequel.
