I am so so glad to hear such lyrics, reminds me of our older cinema. Also so glad that someone dares to make different music, so unlike the Hinglish songs that are so rampant these days in Bollywood. About the audience who have been pumped with non stop dance music, don't know how much they will digest this kind of meaninful/'appropriate to the film's storyline' music. Anyway, I can still write my short review. Overall music, deserves 4/5. Kaminey - is my favorite, love the lyrics, the plight of the 'Kaminey' is so beauifully put together in words. Vishal Bhardway sings it to perfection. Dhan ta nan - of course I love it, for its dance floor beats (it is so reminiscent of the 70's music I grew up with). Can't go wrong with this one. Go Charlie Go - excellent putting together of situational music, you can actually feel what would be happening when the music plays in the background. Raat Ke dhai Baje - This would have to grow on me. I suppose I will like it more when I see the picturisation. Fatak - Needs to grow on me same as Raat ke dhai baje, I sure look forward to the picturisation. This is a song meant to encourage the use of condoms in red light areas, so I want it to do well. India does need to be made aware of the gravity of AIDS and what better medium than a Bollywood film to do so. Socially conscious cinema wah! didn't know it existed in Bollywood :) Pehli Baar Mohabbat - I really like the rendition of this (great guitar, love it), Mohit Chauhan has sung it so beautifully, it hits your heart straight off. Lovely!

Expectation are huge for a film such as Kaminey, after critical acclaims of Maqbool, Omkara, The Blue Umbrella. I have yet to see Blue Umbrella but Im a devout fan for the other two films and they are pretty much cult films in the hindi film industry! So the soundtrack has to be equally great, right? Well the soundtrack is definitely a fine piece as its different than whats usually heard in the market. It definitely delivers! Definitely with the pumping mix, and the adrenaline rush that one would expect from the film as the trailer previews the film. The soundtrack begins with music that immediately gives you the hunch that something is up...something isn't right "Dhan te Nan" and then boom! The music beats begin and the song begins! Both Vishal Dadlani and Sukhwinder Singh's voice are insanely pumping and this song should be a rage for the youth-nation, as the beats are insane and the bass is amazing! Amazing way to sway your listener into the soundtrack. And from what the trailer indicate the song should be a constant crave for all the shahid lovers, which shows high adrenaline as his friend and he is clubbing! "Fatak" is no "Beedi" song but still it makes a impact as one were revisiting omkara again! The rural song is beautiful composed by the maestro Vishal Bhardwaj! One hopefully will expect the same excellence in the film! can't wait fpr the scene! Kudos to the gulzar-saab for penning down such a song! "Go Charlie Go", theme song has the mix of fatak and another song in the end, definitely heart throbbing and makes you imagine only what will happen in the film, its as if the shahid or priyanka are in a situation where they are running but will they survive or not!? FATAK!?! Dead or alive!? Dhan te nan!!!! I honestly thing the dhan te nan will be the indian version of the Pink Panther theme song! KUDOS TO YOU AGAIN MAESTRO SIR! "Kaminey", is crooned by the maestro himself, and although credit to the music and the voice, the song may agitate a few as it could have been a melodious song and beautiful if the word kaminey just didn't repeat, Vishal Bhardwaj has a brilliant voice, one wonders why he doesn't more often in the film industry. The next song is "Pehli Baar Mohabbat", and when one sees the name Mohit Chauhan as the singer, one can never say the song is horrible or expect it to be bad, and thank you the streaky mohit chauhan continues his amazing song compilations, along with the beautiful soothing music created by the maestro once again. Definitely an uplifting song and sung very beautifully! Again with Gulzar saab creating such lyrics makes me only wish that i could write such beautiful poetry... The final song is "Raat Ke Dhai Baaje" at first you expect like you know a soft wedding song. as we saw priyank chopra in the trailers, but a few seconds later, the song takes a instant change into modern music! Truly a interesting song! Fusion at its best, and its definitely awesome to hear Mr. Suresh Wadekar again and his voice is beautiful to hear! Thank you Mr. Maestro for bringing him back after a long while!!! Beautiful and brilliant!!! After hearing love aaj kal, I said its been a while since i had an all-around complete album, but if Love Aaj Kal is a rage and been selling like hot cakes, its definitely getting competition from this album for sure. GO GET IT NOW!!!! Dhan te Nan will go down as a classic song, the indian pink panther theme song!! hahah i can already picture using this among my friend!! In fact a lot by my feel can go down as a classic, the album feels like to me a hit!
