4 Very Good

Hrithik leads the way with superlative performance…………

This movie is going to be a new chapter in Indian film industry. Historical movies have poor history in box office. ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ will break that myth and emerge as one of big blockbusters of 2008. Kudos to Ashutosh Gowariker for making such a big budgeted film and making a movie of International standard. Indian cinema has moved forward. I had very less expectations and as an avid film watcher, I felt movie would fall flat. Hrithik Roshon has surprised me the most. He has gone into the skin of the character and leads the movie by giving a superlative performance. He truly deserves a national award for this performance and this is best career performance from him. In end of the movie, the character of emperor Akbar completely dominated superstar Hrithik Roshon. There is no doubt that he is one in four of the most handsome actors (Devanand, Dharmendra and Salman Khan are other three) of Hindi Film Industry ever. In recent past, two popular stars have failed playing historical characters in ‘Ashoka’ and ‘Mangal Pandey’ respectively. Hrithik has done about only fifteen films in last seven years but has as an actor; he has shown his variety playing different characters. In ‘Kaho Naa Pyar Hai’, a superstar was born. In ‘Fiza’ and ‘Mission Kashmir’, he played a terrorist in them. In ‘Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gham’, he kept on his own with actors like Amitabh Bachan and Shahrukh Khan. In ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, he played a mentally challenged character and then Army Officer in ‘Lakshya’. We watched a superhero in ‘Krishh’ and super cool villain in ‘Dhoom2’. Now he has proved his ability as young mughal emperor Akbar. His dialect and dialogue delivery in Urdu is very good. He is the pillar of the film. He stands out is some of the scenes like

Ø His Entry Scene and the scene followed that, where he refuses the kill the king and tells his Uncle Bairam Khan to go to Mecca.
Ø His scene, where he tames the elephant.
Ø The scene, where he goes and meet Jodhaa for first time and listens to her wishes before marriage.
Ø In scene, where he is practicing sword and Impressing Jodhaa.
Ø The scene where he tells his soldiers to throw his brother down and when he doesn’t die in first time, then he again tells them to bring him up and throw him once again.
Ø The last scene before the intermission between him and Jodhaa.
Ø The sword fight between him and Jodhaa.
Ø The scene where he goes to market as a commoner with his ministers.
Ø The scene, where he abolishes the tax for Hindus for going to their religious places.
Ø The final battle scene.

Aishwariya Rai has also given a good performance and has complemented Hrithik well. It’s stupid to talk about her beauty. She is a no doubt most beautiful woman in earth. Other actors are okay. The film rests on shoulders of Hrithik Roshon and Aishwariya Rai. Their chemistry is to be watched and it is treat for your eyes. A.R.Rahman has once again proved that he is true genius. The Sufi song ‘Khawaja mere Khawaja’ is very good and has been wonderfully shot. All the songs are good and have been pictuarised magnificently. Ashutosh is the captain of the ship and has done his work extremely well. The battle scenes are few but worth watching. The movie has taken few steps towards International Cinema. India is ready to make movies of high budget and we have filmmakers, who can do that. ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ is worth your money to watch.
