Hey Baby marks the debut of TV anchor Sajid Khan as a full-fledged director, after having directed a short horror movie as part od Darna Zaroori Hai. He manages assemble a stellar star cast, shoots in the most exotic locales, and manages to produce a flick which is slick and appealing to the senses. However, the film lacks in soul and reveals a lack in conviction in the director's mind regarding the script. In an attempt to satisfy everybody, the fim falls flat on its face and ends up being neither a comic caper nor a tearjearker. Yes, the performances of all leading men Akshay, Reitesh and Fardeen are convincing with some very effective comic scenes, especially in the first half, the film tends to meander in the second halfwhich is where the film loses its bite and descends from the sublime to the ridiculous. The music of the movie is fairly average and the special appearance of SRK towards the end of the movie is pathetic and clear exploitative. Overall, the movie will open to a good response over the weekend but in all probability will bite the dust by monday, if not earlier.
