Like Yuvvaraj this album also has 1 or two fine soundtrack(s). But Overall this album is below expectation. Guzarish is the finest track of this album. I can say Guzarish is one of the hit track in this year. Bheka is also good. But other songs are average. When i listen guzarish in tv promo i thinked this album will be best album of year. But after listening hole album know i think it is ok-ok album. Any one can buy it for guzarish.

finally that's the a.r. rehman we loved over the year a bit unconventional ,a bit experimental, bit whacky but simply superb,ya that's real rehman for me you and all and that's made the diffrence with ghajini. since i have not seen heard what real ghajini was so i cant compare the songs of two,so for me its a seprate album from the above. when first promo came out i thought it was sonu singing but when the song came on air i realized that it was not him ,but as i cant fail to recognise sonu's voice i saw it on album's cover ,never the less this was a small story about the song but we shouldnt go off the target "guzarish" is simply beautifull and javed did full justice to it the song simply grows on you on the first hearing itself ,it's tuning sometimes reminds me of saathia's humming of sonu and a bit of airtel but that doesnt make this one a copy its the highlight of the album a superb begining of the album.but sometimes i wonder why sonu didnt sang this one there should have a sonu version of the song. then comes "aye bachchu" by suzanne (mahiya fame) she has done a superb job .song's arrangement is superb and sound that has been used for the song makes it even more intresting.i will like to see it's picturisation. benny dayal seems like a regular rehman camp member "kaise mujhe" is a slow song which will depend on the mood of the movie but i liked the lyrics of the song it grows on you after 3-4 hearing ,shreya joins in later makes song a good one. "BEhKa" ya that's the signature rehman song karthik makes re-entry after saathia's chori pe chori superb song i really loved the feel of the song everything in the song is just so unsual and different that it stands out be it its arrangement ,instruments or singing.superb song i cant get enough of it. "latoo" is a fast pace number well sung by shreya ghosal a good song with some good arrangements and whacky lyrics. instrument song is also good. on the whole a good album by a.r.rehman i think it will be one of the year's top 10 album along with rehman's jaane tu .i got more than what i thought . like to know your views as well.

I feel this album is very commercial but different. It will take time for it to settle and after the film releases it should do really well. Critics will praise this and it should be praised. Comparisons will be made with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi but that would be useless.

They are both very different and both are great soundtracks. There are similarities such as both are fairly short albums and will take time for the listener to enjoy it. Guzarish, Kaise Mujhe, Bekha and Latoo Latoo will surely work for the majority of the audiences.

This is not Rahman’s best music score but it is appreciative. It should do well. I do prefer Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na but that was a different film to this. I hope that the music justifies itself with the film. Lyrics by Prasoon Joshi are fairly average and could have been done better. However, give the album a few tries and the music will grow on you!

1. Guzarish
Guzarish, the song which was released in the trailer of the movie as the background score, and also the first song promo to be released from the album, is a soothing experience. Melody of the song is really smooth and simple, A. R. Rahman style, and the lyrics are above average. Sung by Javed Ali, the man behind the hit, Jashn-E-Bahaara, from Jodhaa Akbar, is not a good choice for this song and guest vocals are by Sonu Nigam. If you’ve Sonu Nigam in the song, who is doing more justice to the song just by “humming†then you should give the whole song to Sonu.

I’m not saying song is below standard or something, but the only thing that I’m pointing here is Javed doesn’t feel like a good choice as it doesn’t suit his voice. Sonu Nigam or Roop Kumar Rathod would have done better job. But, overall, Guzarish is an amiable song which can find a little place in your I-pod.

2. Aye Bachchu
I listened to Aye Bachchu a lot of times before writing this and sorry to say, it’s such a cool wannabe song. I’ve no idea how this song would fit in the movie, but I think it’s an item number, going by the lyrics. Well, there is nothing great about Aye Bachchu, lyrics are so ignorant, music is below standard, and Suzzane doesn’t do any favor to the song by pronouncing "bye bye" as "bi bi."

3. Kaise Mujhe
Kaise Mujhe, another romantic ballad, sung by Benny Dayal and Shreya Ghoshal, is another average love song. Well, I really don’t know what to say, if the lyrics are so wannabe soppy. "Uparwale ko fursat nahi, phir bhi tumhe bana ke vo, meri nazar mein chhad gaya", or this one "Kaise tum mujhe mil gaye, Kimsat pe aaye na mujhe Yakeen", please explain this stuff to me. Prasoon Joshi, you got it all wrong this time.

It’s not his fault alone, A R Rahman’s melody is too difficult to sing for Benny while Shreya does a terrific job in the song, and you’ve a sigh of relief when she comes to sing, almost after half of the song is finished. Listen it only for Shreya, and I hope we’ll get an only Shreya version of the song.

There is also an instrumental version of Kaise Mujhe, as the last track of the album.

4. Behka
After Tu Bole Main Bolu, A R Rahman try to do another jazz stuff, although Tu Bole Main Bolu was an instant classic, Behka is a below average affair. Behka is sung by Kartik, and lyrics, I should point it out again, have no sense at all. There is no consistency in the lyrics and you really don’t know what it means unless you listen to it as if your life depends upon it.

I don’t see it as a situational song, so I assume it would be a background song, but that’s not a good choice if you’re trying to show the condition of Aamir’s character in the movie. As film is dark, looks from promotions, it’s really ironic that none of the song has a dark feel.

5. Latoo
Another weird title joining the league of "100 weird song titles from Bollywood", Latoo is the second best song of the soundtrack. Not a genius work, but if you’ve to go through so many bad songs in a row then anything will appeal to you just for the sake of it. A R Rahman should thank god because he has Shreya, who made this almost dead beat song a worth wile listen.

A.R Rahman is associated with South Indian directors who made their foray into Bollywood. The likes of the great Mani Ratnam debuted with A.R Rahman (though the pair were together in Tamil since "ROJA", they debuted in Bollywood with DIL SE..) Though the film bombed, the music became a cult classic and it's still being played today. The famous style-fantasy of the the South, S.Shankar also debuted with NAYAK (also ARR) but it never made an impact, due to it's cliched factor associated with most South formulaic films.

Now it's 2008, and we got A.R Murgadoss debuting Bollywood with GHAJINI, a remake of his Tamil film that starred Surya, Asin, Nayantara and Pradeep Rawat. Released in 2005 with super-hit music by Harris Jayaraj (lyrics: Na Muthukumar), former associate of ARR, now it's Aamir Khan's turn to see if he tasted success with A.R Rahman along with Khan's favorite, Prasoon Joshi (the duo come again after Blockbuster hit, RANG DE BASANTI).

Unfortunately, the music's below par but let's not get hasty on "slow poison" and "give it time" reasons.

Guzzarish is a soothing number but half way through the song, Sonu Nigam (guest vocals), chips in an "ah" or two and then it hits you. Though Javed Ali got full marks for the song, one wishes that Nigam could've sung this one instead. Even after giving "Mastam Mastam" and "Dil Ka Rishta" from Yuvvraaj, I was merely hoping he would sing it (or rather, ARR compose a Nigam version of the song.) The song is predicted to be the "Suttum Vizhi" of this version and it's pretty slow for the former being a fast beat one. Still, this is a pick of the album.

Behka marks the return of Karthik (who's now a hotshot singer down south) to Bollywood after SAATHIYA's "Chori Pe Chori." Touted as "Oru Maalai", the tune just doesn't gel with the lyrics, to be frank here. It's sounds like one of the rejected songs from JAANE TU YA JAANE NA. The jazzy and hip beat compiled together and to top it off with Shankar-Eshaan-Loy's "ROCK ON!" chorus like chant that you can hear in the end of the song. The main problem is that Joshi tries to shoe horn in the urdu and meaninful lyrics into the song. It's overall an OK track, nothing groundbreaking.

Latoo with Shreya Goshal is "Rahatulla" thanks to the exact arrangements that can be heard here, espcially in the middle of the song. For someone who's used to giving soothing melodies like Ilayaraja's CHEENI KUM" or Vishal-Shekhar's "MAIN AGAR KAHOON", this one doesn't suit her well and I wonder why they didn't get Sunidhi Chauhan to do this song, she's used to it. Heck, the RAB BANA DI JODI song has her doing a disco type wala number. Chauhan would've done well, here with Goshal, it doesn't go well together, like chalk and cheese. Average composition.

Aye Bachchoo sounds like he's taken a page or two out of "ROCK ON!" and several of Music Director, Pritam Chakraboorty's hit albums, majorly, JAB WE MET's "Mauja Mauja". The tune's very 90ish rock and with Suzanne behind the mike (she's done DHOOM 2), nothing special nor there was anything in "X-Machi", basically filler tracks. Nothing great but could be catered for the masses who prefer this.

Kaise Mujhe has Benny Dayal again doing a souful and sad track with Goshal joining in later on. A good listen overall but will the audience have the patience to listen to this sad song. This is obviously the bonus track that Murgadoss had mentioned in Behindwoods.com's interview. From the hearings, it's likely to be Aamir thinking of Asin's "death" and so on. You can tell the arrangements give it a background score-ish material. Slow, but a good hear. Check out it's instrumental too if you enjoyed this track.

Ghajini's Hindi version doesn't create any hype on music. And frankly, after giving good scores like JTYJN, YUVVRAAJ, I would rather prefer the latter albums and enjoy probably Guzzarish, a little Behka, and Kaise Mujhe. As for the rest, nothing groundbreaking, just plain average.

The original Tamil version of the movie was a blockbuster hit and the songs composed by Harris Jayaraj were good but not mind blowing in anyway. Aamir and Rehman are back together in this Hindi remake.

Guzarish(Javed Ali)
Javed Ali seems to be the next Hariharan for Rehman. He is featured in every other album. The singer is absolutely terrific and sings his heart out in this song. The song is already making waves in the promos.

Bekha(Karthik)
Karthik is a surprise choice for this peppy song. Karthik is famous in the Tamil industry but he is new in Hindi cinema. It will be fair to say he has done a commendable job. Rehman as usual has experimented with instrumentation. There is a passage in the song influenced by punk rock. Overall it is a good song.

Latoo(Shreya Ghosal)
It has been a while since I’ve heard Shreya Ghosal in a fast paced song . My favorite singer has proved that she is very comfortable with fast songs as well. The song starts off at a brisk pace and slowly moves into Spanish territory. Rehman is the king of these kind of masterful compositions and he has proved yet again that he is the best.

Kaise Muje(Benny Dayal , Shreya Ghosal)
I thought I was listening to Yuvvaraj for a bit. This is an excellent song sung by the talented Benny and Shreya. The song is high pitched from the beginning to end and the controlled rendition by both singers makes this decent melody sound awesome. Rehman as usual pitches in with the right mix to keep the audience entertained. I would assume that this is the main song for Aamir and Asin. This is the best song of the album if you don’t compare it with “Dil Ka Rishta†from Yuuvraj.

Kaise Muje(Instrumental)
The slow and instrumental version of the previous song. The piano is mesmerizing as with any Rehman composition. This must be the sad version of the duet after the tragedy

Aye Bachu(Suzanne)
I have heard this song before but it does not really matter as this song is awesome.Suzanne rocks with her amazing vocals with the rhythmic heavy metal piece giving her company. A full throated rendition is the order of the day and Suzanne fits the bill perfectly.

Overall this is a refreshing problem and worth the buy. Rehman’s song will grow on you and I am already impressed so I am hopeful these songs will be chart busters depending on the movie goes.

Very good start for Murugdoss in Hindi atleast on the music front. We will have to wait for the movie but if it is anywhere closer to the Tamil version it is sure to be a big hit.
