Movie Review: Fitoor Ratings: 2/5 Genre: Romance Before release, audiance have high expectations from fitoor, due to superb Starcast Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif and Director Abhishek Kapoor. But fitoor proves yet another boring romantic movie of these month after Sanam Teri Kasam. Fitoor is a story of Noor Nizami (Adiya Roy Kapoor) and Firdous (Katrina Kaif). Noor likes Firdous from childhood. One day Firdous went to London for further studies and Noor lefts behind in Kashmir. After many years Noor becomes an famous artist and goes to delhi. where he again meets to Firdous and they fall in love with each other. Suddenly one day Firdous leaves to Noor and again goes back to Kashmir. Whether there love story reach to destination or not? thats the story of Fitoor after Intermission. Aditya Roy Kapoor is excellent in role of Noor Nizami. Katrina looks beautiful but performance is strictly OK in role of Firdous. Tabu is good. Ajay Devgan has done good job in special appereance. As Director, these time Abhishek Kapoor fails to entertain the audiance due to Weak script, Screenplay and Direction. Cinematography is just awesome. Overall, Fitoor is a romantic story without soul. Its a waste of time and money. Huge Disappointment. Avoid it.

Director is disillusioned about love in this movie. Nothing new in the name of story. Screenplay is stale. Dialogues are good in beginning of movie but then gradually become irritating. How can one think about saying a dialogue like 'Doodh Mangoge To Kheer Denge' in an emotional scene, and even when the speaking person is an artist. Screenplay is so confusing that they don't know the difference of sympathy and love, looking at torn shoe of a boy by a young girl could be sympathetic not romantic. Boy looks younger, girl somehow matches his age with face but physically she looks like a full grown girl. Love scenes means scarf tied in childhood as the token of friendship will be preserved till adulthood as a possession of love by male lead! To prove his love in adult age he has to show the girl all of her painting made by him. This film is full of such type of stale scenes. An artist, precisely painter always goes shirtless while painting so he looks like painter cum model. Makers think that his six packs induce creativity inside him and bring some audience into theater. Six pack is most common thing now a days. There is unnecessary angle of terrorist, a bomb blast and India Pakistan angle. Childhood portion in first half is too long. Movie is deadly slow. Performance wise only Taboo as Princess is only relief rest are unbearable. Cinematography by Anay Goswami is very good. In an emotional movie how can makers think about most flat faces of Bollywood pairing together. Ajay Devgan is wasted completely in guest appearance. 'Pashmina Dhage Se' song is melodious, credit goes to music director amit Trivedi and lyricist Swanand Kirkire. This song looks great in promo but it is not in film, only childhood version is there.

Fitoor starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' famous novel…
Fitoor starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' famous novel Great Expectations. Set against the scenic backdrop of Kashmir, the film uses elements of the books to create an erratic story line that oscillates between intense and mediocre moments. For all those who have read the book will know how dark some of its characters are. Abhishek Kapoor reaches within the crevices of those dark places and presents his interpretation of love and loss…. What's good:- Anay Goswami's camera work is stellar. Abhishek Kapoor frames every scene like it's a piece of art. He's a modern day Sanjay Leela Bhansali in terms of setting up his frame. Like the former, his attention to detail is exceptional. Fitoor is a good looking film (and we aren't talking about the lead cast). The first half is a visual treat. The long panoramic shots of Dal Lake, or the autumn lit apple trees are outstanding. The film begins with young Firdaus and Noor (brilliant casting) who are impressive. Especially the boy who plays the young Aditya Roy Kapur is phenomenal. Amit Trivedi's score for the film is in sync with the storyline and creates the right ambiance for its characters to develop. Pashmina and Fitoor title track both are hauntingly melodic. Katrina Kaif looks like a million bucks and her Firdaus is a deadly combination of good looks and a mind that can plot a murder. Despite sharing the screen with a stalwart like Tabu she manages to hold her own. Aditya Roy Kapur is able to showcase the pain and anguish of Noor. But the film belongs to Tabu who goes in for the kill in every single scene. Her Begum is terrifyingly unpredictable yet so vulnerable and human. Aditi Rao Hydari and Lara Dutta are both welcome surprises and impress in their respective roles. What's not:- It's not just the pace, but the treatment of the subject that plays the spoilsport. Abhishek seems a tad bit confused on where he wants to take his characters. Does he want to take them to a dark place and bring out the worst in them or does he wants them to be beacons of hope ? Unlike the book, his version of the story is haywire and all over the place. Firdaus and Noor's romance goes from intense, to cold, to nothing. So much that the climax fall flat because the build up to it took so long. Also Begum's back story comes a little too late in the second half. using Tabu's voice for Aditi who's playing the young Begum was a bad idea. Ajay Devgn's cameo act is not only random but also disconnected from the key plot of the film. Abhishek starts unravelling traits of his characters at such a rapid pace towards the climax that it becomes hard to keep track of their intentions. There is a lot of Urdu and heavy dialoguebaazi that creates a dreamy atmosphere but doesn't add value to the plot. What to do:- If you love modern art and abstract paintings then Fitoor should appeal to your senses! Fitoor is a film that looks magical, has impressive performances, yet lacks 'wow' factor. This love story is not everyone's cup of tea and hence those with artsy tastes may like it.

FITOOR - So an adaptation of Charles Dickens 's GREAT EXPECTATIONS. Charles Dickens is one of the most famous novelist of England. And Great Expectation is one of his most famous novel. It has been adapted numerous of times in British and American TV series and films out of which i have seen one British mini series released in 2011. So from now as i have not read the novel , whenever i say GREAT EXPECTATION in my review i will be referring to that British TV series and not the Novel. Great Expectation is a very hard story to adapt in Bollywood. It doesn't have much of a tragedy likes Shakespeare nor it has much twist in it. Also it doesn't have the youth factor in it like Chetan Bhagat as it is a timeless story. The plot seeks for involvement of the audience in the emotions of the characters . Its a story of a poor boy NOOR whose fortune changes after meeting BEGUM and her daughter FIRDAUS . The pace of the movie was intentionally slow still there are some parts which felt too much hurried. The adaptation which i have seen earlier(the TV series) was 3hr long , in comparison FITOOR was 50min shorter. The movie starts with NOOR and FIRDAUS meeting in childhood. A sense of likeness born between them . I don't know the names of both the actors playing the younger characters but they were really good. The boy gives perfect shocked look every time he saw beautiful FIRDAUS . In fact i would have liked it more if more times has been given to their younger versions. The character of BEGUM tries to generate love in the mind of NOOR for her daughter (why ? that would be shown at the end of the movie) , those conversations should have been much more so that the OBSESSION (in Hindi FITOOR) of NOOR for FIRDAUS could have been justified like it has been done in Great Expectation. But the childhood have been show in a hurried manner. Then for some reason FIRDAUS and NOOR got separated and met again when they were adults. Among the older version Aditya Roy Kapoor has done a good job , but i think any actor with more talent like Ranveer Singh could have done much better then Aditya. When it comes to Katrina , she was the worst among all of them. She has been taken just for her looks and any actress with greater talent (anushka , deepika , priyanka and many more) would have made the movie better. Its like every story writer writes Katrina's character to be born , lived or studied in foreign so that her bad Hindi accent can be justified . Here also she has been shown as studied in London but guess what she talks in American accent , i guess director know that majority if Bollywood audience doesn't knows the difference between American and British accent. But as always its Tabu (perfectly cast although she takes the role after Rekha rejected it) who steels all the scene. Her character the Haunted BEGUM is the character who made Fitoor a good movie. She played both FIRDAUS and NOOR as she want it the whole movie. Her dark circles shows how much she was haunted from her past , how much pain she has suffered , how much those eyes have cried. Aditi Rao Haidri did the younger version of Begum with Tabu's voice over which felt too awkward. Why the director thought that audience will be so foolish that we cant understand that its a backstory and Aditi is playing the younger Begum. There is also a cameo of Ajay Devgan in two scenes , and i would say he was wasted. Yes his character was important but the way it was portrayed didn't required an actor like Ajay Devgan to do it. Although a well known face helped the character in a good way , i guess an actor with less caliber like Arjun Rampal could have done it. Abhishek Kapoor after Rock On and Kai Po Che directed it quite decently. Great Expectation was hard to adapt but i think he has done it in a good manner. Anay Goswami's cinematography is brilliant although still not great as HIGHWAY and HAIDAR. The music was good. Songs were used well with the flow. And every song is in background. Pashmina and the title track were great. Just if the movie would have been little long , characters have been developed little deeper , young age of FRIDAUS
