Chandni Chowk to China isnt daily bread and butter for a normal, average music listener in…
Chandni Chowk to China isnt daily bread and butter for a normal, average music listener in India..It is a brilliant mix of so many types of sounds and the spectre of music on display is as varied as Indian anthropology..It has a definite undercurrent of Desi sounds with a overlay of fusion and even some Chinese jingles which makes it liable to some serious criticize but a serious music fanatic will appreciate his ears getting a mouthful.. 1.Chandni Chowk To China title song: It begins with hip hop sounds and puts in some Chinese music but finally its the Indian music which highlights it..Sung by Neeraj Shridhar(now official voice of Akshay Kumar) and Anushka Manchandani, its a highly foot tapping and highly enjoyable musical piece with some very janny but funny lyrics..The main stealer of the show but is Shankar Mahadevan who joins midway and puts a stamp of his authority..He is just brilliant..In coming times its going to be rage and it is bound to have interludes in the film which will only magnify its potential..The sounds are typical SEL but who is complaining.. 2.CC2C: Now here is the surprise with Akshay Kumar getting behind the mike..He delivers some good rap along music director Punjabi Rapper Bohemia..Akshay Kumar is the heart and soul of this song and the lyrics truly have AK stamp on it...It makes no improvement music wise but is a good harmless time pass fun.. 3. SIDHU: Its the Akshay Kumar introducing track in the film, sung and composed by Kailash Kher is a qawalli meets pop kind of a song..Its an average song with average sounds but the noteworthy feature of the song are its lyrics which are very basic but effective.. 4. Chak Lein De: Again a track by Kailash Kher et al which is a hero appraisal written all over it..Its a thumping and pumping song which is bound to get your pulse racing and adrenaline flowing..It will be better picturised on screen.. 5. India se Aaya Mera Dost: A remix of Bappi Da's old hit Bombay se Aaya mera dost but with new age sounds and intermingled Chinese jingles..The beginning is very interesting but marred by some poor rendering..Over all the poorest song in the album but might have some impact on screen.. 6.Tere Naina: Now the best for the last..Like Teri Ore in SIK and Bolna Halke Halke from JBJ this song is the best of the lot and the most melodious of the lot..In fact it is the most melodious song that I have heard since long long time..Its sung beautifully and very soulfully by Shankar Mahadevan who is a master at rendering his own composition and Shreya Ghoshal..Shankar's voice flows like honey flows down the petals of a flower and Shreya is the most talented singer after Alka Yagnik to have graced the Indian Industry and she proves it emphatically..Both the singers deserve awards for such brilliant singing and a special mention to a type of rendition by Ghoshal which is unique but very sweet and lovable..A chartbuster.. Over all a very good album for a person with a broader outlook and will definitely require more than one hear to grow.. 3.5/5. (.5 extra for Tere naina)

GREAT MUSIC is what u think of when u hear the names Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Kailash Kher, & Bappi Lahiri...and thats EXACTLY what u receive in CC2C...but the real highlight of the soundtrack is the actor: Akshay Kumar!!!!...he pulls off a great performance n we'll get into that later! but one thing is clear about the album: it will attain different tracks with diverse flavors bcuz of the 3 different composers roped in! now 2 the review we go! first comes the title song, Chandni Chowk To China [im sure u hav heard it in the promo] well, the song is put together decently well wit the chinese mix n all...but u expect A LOT MORE from the leading song of the album!...its a lil addicting tho...btw Neeraj Sridhar comes wit a FABULOUS rendition once again n thats the only reason i would come bac to it...i rele cant get enough of this guy! RECOMMENDED! the Remix is also quite good...if yur a fan of the fast pace, its for u! next up is SIDHU...Kailash Kher comes into the scene n hes always BRILLIANT in his singing n displays it here once again! Kailasa [Kailash's band] composes the song n they r one of my favorite artists [Teri Deewani, Saiyaan, all their songs!] so i expect a lot from them n they do quite well here...awesome composition! the funny lyrics do not fail either! GREAT ONE GUYS! Bappi Lahiri comes wit his sole song of the OST: India Se Aaya Mera Dost!...many people hav criticized Bappi here for: not pronouncing "salaam" properly [cmon guys...] n not singing well [i liked it...]...in fact...i personally LOVE the creativity here...turning the old "Mumbai Se Aaya" into this wit the chinese mix...RECOMMENDED!!!! S-E-L return wit Tere Naina...i can already see this being one of my favorite songs for YEARS to COME!!! AMAZING composition! FANTASTIC lyrics!! and SUPERB vocals by Shankar Mahadevan n Shreya Ghosal!!! what more can u ask for! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Tere Naina would hav been the best song on any OST ever made but im a lil biased here since Akshay Kumar is my favorite actor of alltime n this song is all about him: CC2C!! the composition by Bohemia is truly fantabulous n akshays rappin skills rele make the track MEMORABLE!!! this one is gonna soon come out in a promo n watch out EVRYONE! this one gonna b a big hit! i recommend this song to evryone but if yur an Akshay fan, i STRONGLY STRONGLY RECOMMEND it!!! the final track is Chak Lein De...its a decent track which coulda been much better had the composition been workd a lil more...the techno beat is PERFECT n so much more coulda been done with it...anyways listen to it for Kailash's singing as it makes up for the "misses"... n thats the end of this OST...great job by all 3 composers n also the lyricist! this one is definitely worth yur $ guys...go out n get it!!!!!!

One of the four pillars of Indian Film Industry , Akshay Kumar (others being SRK,Hrithik and Aamir)…
One of the four pillars of Indian Film Industry , Akshay Kumar (others being SRK,Hrithik and Aamir) , is all set for his next release , Chandni Chowk to China or in short CC2C . This would be probably the first full fledged Warner Bros. produced pic in India and they might be expecting a different fate than Sony Pictures debut flick Saawariya . But Akshay these days is like a guarantee card attached to a product and his films at least provide a guarantee of recovering the cost . The film is a third attempt for the Kal Ho Na Ho fame Nikhil Advani who would be a little skeptical after his last film Salaam-e-Ishq which didn’t do that well on the box office and was a weak film in itself . This one though is not a multistarrer like the previous two . The music for this one has been given by more than one music directors and features the likes of SEL , Bappi Da and Kailasa .

The album in whole has Eight tracks out of which Five are original , two remixes and one being an adapted version of an older song . The first track on the soundtrack is S.I.D.H.U. or in other words Sidhu . This track has been composed by the team of Kailash Kher , Naresh and Paresh together who are known as Kailasa . Their album Teri Diwani got quite popular and this would probably be their first attempt in Film music . The song has been sung by Kailash Kher and it mainly focuses on the lead character , Sidhu (Akshay) , and the characteristics of his character . The tune of this song is very basic Indian one and has a lot of use of percussion instruments . The music on this one reminds us of the track Billo Rani from Goal . This track starts in almost similar fashion as that one . And since it has the very basic desi tune in it , it is bound to get popular and even the lyrics are catchy enough to make it popular . I am sure Navjot Singh Sidhu would love this track and laugh in his Sidhuistic Style after listening to this one . Overall , the track is a nice and safe first attempt by the group Kailasa and has all the ingredients to get successful . The lyrics are also by Kailash Kher so it turns out that he has all the talents from writing to singing . Good piece of writing considering he is not a full fledged writer .

The next song on the album is the Title track “Chandni Chowk To China†that we heard in the teaser promos to an extent . This one has been composed by another well set trio in the industry , Shankar Ehsaan and Loy . SEL had given a blockbuster album with Nikhil in Salaam-e-Ishq . This time though they get only two songs on the album . This track has been sung by Shankar , Anushka Manchanda and Neeraj Sridhar . This is a typical SEL track with Shankar yelling at the top of his voice , don’t mind shankar I am just kidding . It is just that he mostly sings High pitched songs so they all sound similar . It also has some Chinese Folk Music inputs which sound good . The track though on a whole is a little weak to be a title track . The Lyrics on this one by Rajat Aroraa are very average and they don’t provide anything to the song . Both the lyrics and tune are pretty commercial . The song though is good enough to not harm the film . It might look good if filmed properly . The only refreshing thing in this song is the voice of Anushka Manchanda . She sings well and she is a good alternative for overused Sundhi Chauhan’s voice .

The third track on the album is an adapted version of Mumbai se Aaya Mera dost(Aap Ki Khatir-1977 ) titled as India Se aaya Mera dost . This one has been composed by our very own Bappi Da who is back after Taxi No. 9211 with this track . Since Taxi No. 9211 was also produced by Rohan Sippy like this one , Bappi gets a bonus for the hit soundtrack that he produced for that film . This track makes me wonder why doesn’t he work more even though he gave a hit soundtrack in form of Taxi No. 9211 . This one is a fabulous track and probably my pick on the album and Bappi Da proves the saying that Its not Age but it is Mileage that counts . The track starts off with some weird Chinese lyrics and tune . The additional lyrics by Rajat this time are much better and add to the beauty of the song . The tune itself of the original song is so good that it makes one sway to it . But Bappi da has also added a lot to the original tune and given it a very modern make over . The use of Chinese music in this one makes much more sense than what was used in the title track . This one also sounds like those spanish Football World Cup theme songs that are good for cheering etc . Apart from composing the song Bappi Da has also sung the song in his typical style making it much more entertaining . Overall , it is a fun song from the word go .

The fourth song on the soundtrack is a soft romantic number “Tere Naina†by SEL . This one is nice song and like one of those lounge versions which have minimal use of music and stress in more on Lyrics and singing . It has a nice modern feel to it and even Shreya sings in accordance with that feel . The lyrics by Rajat Aroraa on this one are the best in the entire album and even the singing by both the singers is great . Backed up by good on-screen chemistry between Akshay and Deepika this song might turn out to be a Romantic treat . Shreya is a master in such songs and she sings in a soulful manner . Overall , the best original track on the album and is a winner all the way . This one reminded me of the track “Dil Mera Ek Taara†from 16 December which is one of my all time favourites .

The next on the soundtrack is “Chak Lein De†by Kailash , Paresh and Naresh . This track is also a modern track with a nice use of Punjabi Lyrics . It starts off with seriously cool music something that you usually hear in soundtracks of films like The Matrix . I liked the lyrics to an extent but I think that this track would have got much more popular if the lyrics would have been a little better because the music on this one is top notch . It feels a little inspired from west but still is quite good and would look even better if its music is used in background score for the film . The song has some good use of flute in between and overall has a nice pace attached to it . Kailash as usual sings it quite well and this song has all the compositions of a good track that might grow over with repeated listening .

The last original track is a RAP song CC2C sung by Akshay Kumar and has music by Bohemia , the London based Punjabi Rapper . I don’t know if this song would be featured in the film or not but at least it would be featured in the end credits . This one is an average RAP attempt and though Akshay is not one of the best singers yet he manages to sing it in an average way . The akshay fans would love it since it has the story of Akshay Kumar in short . The music and Lyrics by Bohemia are good enough to hold the song . The singing is the weak point and lyrics are also so so . Akshay glorifies himself a little bit in the song and nobody would mind that since he is riding quite high on the success wave . Overall , it is an average attempt at the RAP music genre by Akshay Kumar and Bohemia .

Then at last come two remixes from DJ Amyth of the title track and Chak Lein De . The remixes are as usual with increased tempo and having the usual DJ bass effects in them . The remix of Chak Lein De is better one and little different than the original song .

Overall , its a nice Commercial soundtrack that would definitely do quite well on the charts and it would certainly help the movie and won’t hinder the pace of the film in any way . The soundtrack has some good songs and others are average tracks that any commercial soundtrack has . You can try it once .

“China†in the movie title and an integral part of the story, so I expected lotsa ‘oriental’ sounds in the soundtrack…something on the lines of chin mini chin choo from Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. And like in RKRCKR, Chandni Chowk To China (CC2C) also has that one track that is totally oriental in nature, the title track – Chandni Chowk to China. Neeraj Shridhar is fast becoming the one-song-trump-card for several music directors (Ticket to Bollywood in JBJ, Hare Ram in Bhool Bhulaiya, Ishq ka Kalma in Goal) and he does a swell job in this madcaper of a song, providing the vocals for Akshay Kumar whilst Anushka sings for Deepika and Shankar Mahadevan popping in to add a fizzy by-line. The Remix version is much more better than the original with DJ Amyth adding in electrical and drum sounds and taking the song to quite another level. The only discordant notes are the intermittent sounds of “haiyyaâ€!

Kailash Kher, Naresh and Paresh contribute two songs in this ensemble album, one an introductory song for Akshay and the second, a motivational song. Naam hai Sidhu is Akshay’s entry song, set in the bylanes of Chandni Chowk and tracing his dreams and ambitions…and also his stagnation as a plain cook. The Harmonium and Tabla dominate the music and though not in a qawwali-esque style, its pretty traditional. Chak Lain De is a motivational song, set as in China as Akshay prepares for battle with the local foes in trying to protect the village whose re-incarnated warrior he is believed to be. The Sitar and Flute set the tone here. It reappears as a Remix version - by DJ Amyth again - and is listenable though not a great value addition.

The weakest and least-favourite song of the lot comes from Bappi and Bappa Lahiri, who rework the yesteryear song bambai se aaya mera dost into India se aaya tera dost. With some incomprehensible lyrics at the start (presumably Chinese!) and some other inane lyrics (such as Seena to rhyme with China!), it is a put-off from the beginning and makes you skip to the next song. Thankfully, melody and romance returns in the form of a delectable Tere Naina. Shankar Mahadevan’s slow rendition is ably supported by a slightly fast-paced rendition from Shreya Ghoshal and that is what I like in this song. The album is rounded off by a Joker-in-the-pack track (one that probably isn’t part of the movie narrative but is placed at either the opening or closing credits) titled CC2C which is composed by the Punjabi Rapper Bohemia and is sung by Akshay Kumar himself. The lyrics are more to do with Akshay himself than his character in the movie, hinted by the Bangkok-to-Delhi lyrics innit. There’s a heady fun-quotient in the song both at the start and the end as Akshay raps in his own imitable style. Overall, its a fun album with four good songs and two that will probably go onto become blockbusters. The remix version of Chandni Chowk To China, Tere Naina, CC2C and Naam hai Sidhu are my personal picks, in that order.

does not meet expectations although some songs are good. most songs are movie oriented and cannot be understood till watching the movie so this can affect the albums success. the album has 2 good songs and highly depends on the hype and success of the movie.

First of all I just want to say that most of the songs are situational. S.I.D.H.U – This song is one of my favorite songs from the album. It starts off upbeat right from the start. The lyrics are unique and humorous; there are a few lines that really stand out in the song. The song talks about Akshay Kumar’s character in the film, and is done exceptionally well. The vocals are amazing, they are done by Kailash Kher’s, and his voice is perfect for the song. The background music is top notch, it is upbeat, and traditional at the same time. 4.5/5 Chandni Chownk to China – Also a very good song, again it is based on Akki’s character. The song is done by SEL, and the background music is great, has an Indian and Chinese mix to it. The lyric are again funny, there are some that are really well written. Not a typical song compared to most others, as it has a Chinese feel to it. 4/5 India se Aaya Tera Dost – I have never heard the original version of this song; therefore can not make any comparisons to it. The lyrics are below average, and the singer’s voice is very annoying. The start of the song is very pointless, but is probably there for situational reasons. The background score is fast, but is just not flowing, sounds out of place. 1/5 Tere Naina – Finally a slower song, start of right from the start as a nice traditional love song. The lyrics are well written, Shreya Ghoshal, and Shankar Mahadevan have done a great job with the vocals. The background score by SEL is really nice, and soothing. 3.5/5 Chak Lein De – One of my favorite songs from the album, will be great to listen to while in the gym. The song is fast, and has a upbeat tempo, one of those songs that are needed in any Akki album. The lyrics are great, I like the part where the beat slows down, and then slowly picks up. The background score is also great; it is perfect for the song. 4.5/5 C C 2 C – This is kind of cool, Akshay and Bohemia. The song is all about Akshay, and the lyrics are okay, but some of the rhymes are not the best. 3/5 Remixes – Both of the remixes are okay, they add a faster beat to the originals 3.5/5
