Margot Robbie honours India by wearing a diamond linked to the Taj Mahal at the premiere of Wuthering Heights
Margot Robbie delivered one of the most unforgettable red-carpet moments of the early 2026 film season at the Wuthering Heights premiere on January 28, turning heads not only for her couture choice but for the history she carried with her. In a quietly powerful nod to India, Robbie adorned herself with a heart-shaped, table-cut diamond believed to trace its origins back to the Mughal era, widely said to have been gifted by Emperor Shah Jahan to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, whose memory inspired the Taj Mahal itself.
The necklace, inscribed with the words “Love is Everlasting,” added quiet meaning to Robbie’s look and felt like a natural extension of the film she was there to celebrate. Starring as Catherine Earnshaw in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, Robbie leaned into the story’s defining themes of passion, longing, and devotion.
Speaking on the red carpet, Robbie said the necklace carried “a lot of romantic history,” adding that it felt “appropriate for tonight.” Much like the intense bond between Catherine and Heathcliff, the diamond’s legacy is rooted in a love so powerful it has been preserved through centuries of history, architecture, and myth.
Her appearance quickly stood out, admired for its elegance and meaning rather than overt drama. By linking the emotional depth of Wuthering Heights with the rich legacy of the Taj Mahal diamond, Robbie delivered a red-carpet moment that felt both personal and cinematic. With the film set to release in theatres on February 13, this meeting of fashion, history, and storytelling has already set a compelling tone.
