Lee Sung Kyung Special: From Dr. Romantic to Shooting Stars, 5 K-dramas that boast the versatility of the Korean star

1. WEIGHTLIFTING FAIRY KIM BOK JOO

If you ask a fan of K-dramas which is one of their most favourite years of K-drama releases, then they will promptly answer “2016!” This is because 2016 brought in a huge variation in stories, genres and overall entertainment factor. Be it Goblin or Uncontrollably Fond, today almost every K-drama from 2016 has found a cult-like fame. One of the prominent K-dramas of 2016 is Lee Sung Kyung’s Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.  The drama was not a huge success in its home country, but internationally it garnered a huge fanbase. It is one of the few K-dramas outside of the rom-com tropes of a rich man-poor woman pairing. It is a sport-centric drama which underlines the lives of sportspersons in the weightlifting and swimming fields.

Lee Sung Kyung as the lead Kim Bok Joo is an adorable character. It was a refreshing change to see a female lead who is as ordinary as the next person but is as charming as they come. The chemistry between Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk is endearing to see. Till date, short clips and scenes from the drama can be found circulating online to relive the moments of joy from the drama.
