Shekhar Kapur celebrates India’s Women Cricket Team after historic World Cup win: “The true pride of our nation”
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur took to social media to celebrate the Indian women’s cricket team’s 2025 World Cup victory, while also highlighting the broader challenges that women continue to face in the country.
In a powerful post, Shekhar Kapur praised the team’s strength and resilience, writing, “How often do Indian women have to prove their strength, resilience and be the true pride of our Nation? And yet they have to fight for their dignity, respect and for their rights.”
For the first time since the 2011 Men’s Cricket World Cup, India has once again brought a World Cup trophy home this time, thanks to the Women in Blue. The Indian women’s cricket team’s remarkable triumph at the 2025 Women’s World Cup finals stands as one of the most memorable moments in the nation’s sporting history.
Shekhar Kapur’s message struck a chord with fans, who echoed his sentiment that India’s women athletes continue to inspire the nation through their determination and resilience, even as they strive for equal recognition.
