Manoj Bajpayee slams Bollywood’s ‘insecure’ culture; says, “Actors will never praise each other”
Actor Manoj Bajpayee, who is currently receiving widespread acclaim for his performance in The Family Man season 3, recently spoke candidly about the insecurity that persists among actors in the Hindi film industry. During a fun conversation with the cast of the show, hosted by Kusha Kapila and comedian Ravi Gupta, the actor addressed how rare it is for Bollywood stars to acknowledge and appreciate one another’s work.
In the conversation, Jaideep Ahlawat shared a deeply emotional memory from the time Paatal Lok season 1 was released. He recalled how a late-night phone call from Manoj Bajpayee moved him to tears. He said, “When Paatal Lok season 1 was released, Manoj bhai called me at night and spoke to me for 15–20 minutes. I will never forget that for the rest of my life. And after that, I cried a lot.” Manoj also revealed what he had told Jaideep during that call, saying, “I had told him to open an institution, and I would become his student.”
Speaking about the larger issue within the industry, Manoj added, “In our industry, actors will never praise each other. They’ll never call to appreciate someone’s work because they are very insecure. Even now, I still call people to ask for work. Kyunki main paidayshi struggler hoon.”
Before collaborating on The Family Man 3, both actors had worked together in the 2012 crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur and Bedabrata Pain’s period war drama Chittagong. In the latest season, Manoj returns as Srikant Tiwari, while Jaideep plays Rukma, the antagonist Srikant is chasing.
Released after four years, the new season has become the most-watched series of 2025 in its first week on Prime Video India. Directed by Raj & DK, the show stars Manoj Bajpayee, Nimrat Kaur, Ashlesha Thakur, Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, and Jaideep Ahlawat. The season ends on a gripping cliffhanger, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting season four.
