83 Box Office: Ranveer Singh starrer 83 goes a little over Rs. 100 crores, may bring in a couple of crores more

83 has collected Rs. 102 crores* at the box office and may end up bringing in a couple of crores more. However, frankly it deserved better. Sometimes it is difficult to pin down an exact reason for why one film doesn’t work despite being well made. Of course there can be post-mortem done and number of reasons listed down. However it is futile since what’s done is done.

This is what has happened with 83 which was a passion project with quite some investment, both from budget as well as time perspective. Everyone attached to it, be the lead actor, director or the producers were involved too making something spectacular. The film did lend a feel of a big budget entertainer in the making. The marketing was quite visible, there were no cutting corners in the publicity, the timing of release was good too and the release by itself was huge as well. Still, the film has done half of the business that it deserved to at the very minimal.

 

Nonetheless, after completing three weeks at the box office, the film is now running at minimum number of shows despite zero competition. Had the footfalls even encouraging, the film would have managed some sort of numbers for days to come as well and added to the overall collections. Unfortunately that won’t be the case and the film would have to close with a lifetime of Rs. 104-105 crores.
