Shiamak Davar gets doctorate from Middlesex University London

Indian contemporary dance choreographer, Shiamak Davar, has been presented with an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University, London.

Shiamak is well known for changing the choreography of Hindi cinema and is the first Indian to bring contemporary jazz and western forms of dances to thousands in India through his school SDIPA, which is the first of its kind. He began his Bollywood journey with Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai for which he won the National Film Award for Best Choreographer. He also choreographed the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and Delhi and the successful Bollywood tour and 'The Unforgettable Tour' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.



 

Before the ceremony, Shiamak Davar said, "I am truly honored to receive the award of Doctor of the University from Middlesex University. My parents, both pioneers in the field of education, imbibed the importance of education in me. I am blessed to be able to continue their legacy as a dance educationist. I started my journey in the field of performing arts in the UK and receiving this honor completes this circle. With my mission to educate, entertain and empower people, this acknowledgement reinforces my belief
