B.R.Films in legal tussle over finances

Legal tussles in Bollywood are nothing new, the latest being the B.R.Films case that has come into the lime light. One of the oldest production houses, B.R.Films, has been taken to court based on a petition filed by financer Devidas Jotumal Thawani for non-payment of dues.

 

The case so far is that Thawani, who is a financer for B.R.Films and has invested huge sums till date, was receiving prompt repayment of dues until last year. However, post Ravi Chopra's diagnosis of a lung disorder, Thawani claims that the payments have stopped.

As per the petition filed, the owners of the production house, Ravi Chopra, his wife Renu and sons Kapil and Abhay are facing an interim order by the High Court, which restricts B.R.Films from creating any third party rights for their immovable and movable properties without the permission of the court.
