The Aamir Khan starrer Dangal released two weeks back on December 23, the film directed by Nitesh Tiwari, after opening on a high note continued to run well at the box office. In fact Dangal that is based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat managed to enter the Rs. 100 crore club within three days of its release.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the second week collections of Dangal while comparing the same to previous releases of 2016 that have managed to sustain themselves into their second week. Not surprisingly, Dangal that has been one of the most talked about and keenly anticipated releases of 2016 has emerged as the highest second week grosser of 2016. Collecting Rs. 115.96 cr in its second week Dangal that releases across 4300 screens in the Indian market has overshadowed the second week collections of the Salman Khan starrer Sultan that had collected Rs. 48.8 cr, by a massive margin. If that wasn’t enough Dangal has managed to surpass other big release of 2016 like Airlift that collected Rs. 28.79 cr, M. S. Dhoni – The Untold Story that collected Rs. 27.35 cr and Rustom that collected Rs. 26.11 cr.
However, with Dangal still running strong in theatres all eyes are now set looking to see if the overall collections of Dangal manage to set a new record.
