Vishal Bhardwaj, in my opinion, is one of the finest composers alive in India today despite his lack of awards. His tunes have always been innovative and different - but with widespread, mainstream appeal that simply remind you of the "Beedi", "Namak," Naina" and "Phoonk De" days.
Then we have Kaminey, a mainstream film that is undoubtedly defying the rules. It pairs up a fresh couple, uses a "cuss" word as its title, explores the not-so-successful "caper" genre and finally uses raw and earthy lyrics in its soundtrack. So yes, the soundtrack is pretty hot but it has its appeal which is the greatest thing about Bhardwaj sir. His music is simply made for this out-of-the-box film that is a potential trendsetter if it works. The music rocks with Dhan Te Nan, Pehli Baar Mohabbat and Go Charlie Go leading the pack. Awesome soundtrack! Kaminey is an Ok track but Fatak takes a lot of time to get used to.
