4 Very Good

Kaminey is an engrossing and a powerful movie and is a must watch, preferably in theaters. It is really tough to choose a dark theme and churn out an entertaining movie out of it. Credit to Bharadwaj's direction and tight writing. The dialogues are intense as well as hilarious in places and just helps to add extra icing on the cake. Talking about performances, Shahid is absolutely fantastic. He comes off well from his "lover boy" or "chocolate boy" image and does an exceptional job to prove that he is the potential next big thing in Bollywood. He carries out the roles of Guddu and Charlie competently even though both characters are like chalk and cheese. The lisping and stammering is well timed and done with perfection and does not seem like he is overacting. Priyanka is cute and bubbly as an outright Marathi girl and complements Shahid really well. Amole Gupte is an absolute surprise. I must admit Bharadwaj did an excellent job with characterization of his characters. The music is extremely pleasing and youthful and "Dhan Te Nan" stands out the most. Cinematography is first class.
