4.5 Excellent

Before I start reviewing this movie, I have something to shout out loud.. Finally...!! Finally a movie that makes sense. Pheww... Every friday I waited for a movie that'll break the Jinx of Poor Movie playing on the Box Office.
This was the first movie that I watched as a sneak peak on the night before the release,(Sneaked out of the office - finished my testcases on time to reach the multiplex on time :P ) so this one has to be special and is worth it. Wake Up Sid is something special, something that'll remain with you for sometime. I don't know why did it seemed to be a mix of few flicks that have passed my mind - Tare Zameen Par (Ranbir being Darsheel Sr. :P ) that tells you that there is something special in you and also Lakshya - You are special only you need to prove. The story is not a hidding from anyone and dumbest of dumbs can make out the outline. But what i would love to cover are few performances and scenes worth mentioning.
Let's start of with Sidhharth Mehra A.K.A Sid, no prizes for guessing his traits but acclords to Ranbir Kapoor for having potrayed them so well and with ease. This kid has actually grown up and woken up to be the next big thing to happen to Bollywood. He was a new born in Saawaria and I never thought that he would be that good, but things changed after Bachna Ae Haseeno, and now surely have gone quite a notches up for me.
Ok, so next up is Ms. Aisha Banerjee, she is the new girl in the city - Bombay.. whoopsi daisy, how dare I write Bombay - call it Mumbai, No MNS trouble for me please. Konkona is surely different from the mainstream league and fits into the role so beautiful that she surely answers the question that might have come into your minds for thousand times - They could have had a better match with Ranbir, why only Konkona Sen. She answers her critics well with her beautiful potrayal of Aisha, an ambitous girl from Kolkata who comes to Mumbai with loads of dreams and meets Sid.
Meet Ram Mehra - Anupam Kher, he does not have the quantity of role in the movie but for sure he does have the quality. He has potrayed the role of Sid's father with so perfection that for time you would see your dad in him, and the situations would seem real, something that you would have surely been through in your life. He surely does make you feel, yeah the dads are the one who earn for you, pay your credit bills and raise you the best way the can, however don't take them for granted.
Now, how can i forget to mention few people who add up to this good lighthearted romantic drama - Sid's mother played by Supriya Pathak, who can't help herself in the english vocabolary but sure does make the cute effort like most of the mom's do to keep up with their sons and daughters and the generation. Also to mention the friends and the special moments and times they spend with Sid, through thicks and thins - these first timers (sorry guys i don't know your real names) have done well.
There are few scenes you'll love, smile and cry - like the one where Sid has fight with his parents, the one where he clicks pictures of the neighbour's son and like wise many more.
The movie is a must watch, for yourself, where you'll find yourself as Sid. Also for your parents to understand that why do parents run after your life. You'll get all the answers, answers that there is a Sid in each one of us.
I'd love to rate this as a 4/5. And last but not the least special mention for two people, one Anil Mehta for such a beautiful cimenametography, he surely makes the movie look so fresh and pretty and a soother to the eyes - you'll fall in love with Aish's flat for sure. And second, hats off to Ayan Mukherjee, the debutant director - he surely has pulled off a cool movie, a fresh flick and a beautiful one. Just as the song iktara which is lovely and soothing in the movie, so is the movie - there is something for everyone to fall in love with. Wake Up ... It's a go go must watch :)
