Harshvardhan Rane has publicly expressed his admiration for Silaa co-star Sadia Khateeb, calling her one of the most deserving female leads in Hindi cinema and emphasising that she is “not just a heroine”. The actor’s appreciation comes amid the recent announcement of Khateeb turning writer with Kriti Sanon’s upcoming film, backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.
Rane’s endorsement came in the comments section of the first-look poster of Silaa, which features him in a rugged, battle-scarred avatar. While the poster offers a glimpse into the action-romance, it was Rane’s heartfelt praise for Khateeb that caught attention. Instead of focusing solely on his own look or the film, the actor chose to acknowledge his co-star’s talent and potential.
This is not the first time Rane has publicly appreciated the people he works with. During a schedule of Silaa, he praised Khateeb’s performance and dedication, while also acknowledging co-star Ipsitaa, whom he called the star of the film, and Karan Veer Mehra for his contribution. He also extended his appreciation to the technical crew, recognising the efforts of those working behind the scenes.
Rane’s supportive approach extends beyond his immediate circle. When social media users began comparing his performance in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat with Ahaan Panday’s in Saiyaara, the actor urged fans to stop pitting the two against each other, describing Panday as sincere and talented. He has also been vocal in his admiration for Sonam Bajwa, his co-star in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. In an interview with Filmfare, Rane called her one of his top two experiences as a co-star and said she had a mountain of untapped potential. Praising her as an earnest artist and a refined human being, he expressed confidence that she would be recognised not just as an A-grade commercial heroine but also as a top-notch actor capable of holding a scene through silence and the power of her eyes. Rane added that the industry had not even scratched the surface of her potential.
With Silaa bringing Rane and Khateeb together on screen, his latest endorsement has drawn attention to the camaraderie between the co-stars even before the film reaches audiences. At a time when conversations around films often revolve around individual stars, Rane’s willingness to celebrate his co-stars and acknowledge their contributions makes for a refreshing change.
