Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi is a story of estranged twins who fight all odds to reunite their family.

Right before separating from her wealthy husband Raj Khanna (Rishi Kapoor), Archana (Rati Agnihotri) gives birth to identical twins- Sweety and Tina (Kajol). Sweety is taken by Archana's step sister in law Devyani... and handed over to Raj. Archana is made to believe that Sweety died at birth. Over the years the girls grow up to be as different as chalk and cheese. To avoid marrying the man of her aunts choice, Sweety runs away to London where she is mistaken for her sister by Archana. When the twins come face to face they decide to switch places and reunite their parents.
