ok here it goes ..
Earlier Vipul Shah directed movies like Waqt - Race Against Time , Aankhen and lastly Namaste London and now London Dreams .. London Dreams is one of the most awaited movie of the year .. Expectations are very high with the movie .. Reason .. Salman Khan & Ajay Devgn appeared first and last in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and they swept away all the appreciation from the viewers .. Ten years later they are returning to play the lead protagonists in an another high budget movie .. Asin's second bollywood movie .. Vipul Amrutlal Shah himself .. Locations and visuals which seems to be a treat .. So whats the result .. Is London Dreams worth ??
The answer is YES
London Dreams is exceptionally great .. A well made movie in all respects .. A breath taking story with applaudable performances
The story goes as follows : -
Arjun (Ajay Devgn) dreams to be at the top through his passion for music but his family is against his music because of some reason.Due to his fathers death,his uncle(Om Puri) takes him to London.Arjun doesn't want to stay with his uncle as his uncle too doesn't like music and so he escapes from the London Airport.He struggles a lot in London and as many years passes away, finally become successful. He dreams to perform at Wembly Park , a stadium in London.He later forms a band with Priya (Asin) , Zoheb (Rannvijay Singh) and Waseem (Aditya Roy Kapur).Arjun finds that he is in love with Priya but since he is ambitious , he decides he will tell her only after he becomes a star.On the other hand , Manjeet or Mannu (Salman Khan) , Arjun's childhood's best friend , is totally opposite to Arjun.His father is a music teacher and always forces Mannu to learn music but he never shows interest in learning it.He is fun loving , flirt , brat and very friendly.He works in a local band called "Raja Rani Band " in his village.
Arjun and Mannu are best friends and always keeps in touch with each other through calls . Once Mannu calls Arjun to his village saying that he is getting married.Arjun arrives and finds that Mannu lied to him and he did that because he wanted to meet him.Arjun realizes that Mannu sings very well and when Arjun is leaving,he tells Mannu that he have to come to London to stay with him.When Mannu comes to London,Arjun makes him a part of band.Mannu is attracted to Asin and later falls in love with Priya.In a performance due to some problem Arjun finds it difficult to sing an ongoing song and so Mannu gets a chance to sing.What happens is audiences like Mannu more than him and so Arjun starts getting jealous of him.Even Priya start liking Mannu.Arjun gets more envy and plans to destroy his best friend.
Talking about the movie.What i could say is that this movie is Vipul Shah's best work ever.The film is made beautifully.He extracted the best work from his cast and crew.He have worked very hard on this movie and he came out with the best.The movie is an amazing emotional friendship saga.Excellent direction.Cinematography gets an A grade.Screenplay is absolutely nice and the script is surely a classic one.
Well,there are some negative points too.Like Shankar Ehsaan Loy's music.The movie is about musicians and so the music of the movie should be one of the strong point but except for 4 songs(Khwaab Jo,Barso Yaaro,Mann Ko Ati Bhavey,Khanabadosh) rest should be just ignored.Barso Yaaro , Khanabadosh and Mann Ko Ati Bhavey have already made way to people's repeat list but my favourite song is Khwaab Jo which is a soothing , situational song with soft music and nice vocals.Also the climax .It was very good but ends in a rush.Still the movie has a strong impact on you because of its brilliance in direction.Background score is a plus point too.Salim-Sulaiman has done another marvelous job.
Speaking about cast , Salman Khan is a true star in this film.He proves that he is still one of the leading actor in Bollywood.Believe me he is in form this year.First, A power packed performance in Wanted and now an emotional and hearty performance in London Dreams.He is just proving his versatility again[though he doesn't need to, ;) ] .He just steals the show with his award winning performance.Credit should go to the role he got which is one of his best characters.There are some true Salman emotional moments which will surely bring tears in your eyes.He is absolutely fantastic.Ajay Devgn is equally excellent.He essays his role with great ease and gives another great performance.Without Ajay and Sallu , the movie would have been impossible.Asin is nice too.Her acting is cute as a moderate south-indian girl and as a hip hop passionate.Rannvijay Singh and Aditya Roy Kapur is fine.Om Puri has a very small but good role.
So the final verdict is London Dreams goes down as one of the bollywood's best friendship script.Its fabulous on entertainment,tearjerking and really fulfills what you wished from it.Watch it for Salman and Ajay , high standards cinematography , some extremely good scenes and background score.
