Janhvi Kapoor’s Dhadak is special for her because firstly, it is her debut film and secondly because it was her mom’s dream to see her debut film as she was pretty invested in it. At the trailer launch, Janhvi broke down as she could not help but remember her mom. She also narrated an incident involving her mom before Dhadak was offered to her. So, after watching Sairat she told her mother that she wanted to be a part of a film like this to make her debut and co-incidentally Dhadak was offered to her. She said at the event, "I saw Sairat with mom at home and I remember telling her 'I wish that this was my first film and I could do something like it.' Me and mom had this big discussion on how even she wanted a role like this for me and then you (Karan Johar) called and it happened.”

Do you know? Sridevi has watched the first 25 minutes of the film gave a lot of tips of Janhvi Kapoor to better her act. It is very easy for a parent to get emotional and rave about a child especially when she is following your footsteps but she went to look at the technical aspects of it and gave very valuable suggestions to Janhvi. While being interviewed for Vogue magazine, she told Karan Johar, “She was very technical about it. The first thing she told me was the things I needed to improve - she felt the mascara was smudged and it really bothered her. The second half has to be different, she told me... ‘You can’t wear anything on your face.’”

Dhadak is directed by Shashank Khaitan known for his Dulhania series and features Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles. It is produced by Dharma Productions and will release on July 20.
