The Rajkummar Rao starrer Newton has emerged as a surprise success at the box office. The film released sans any noise or extensive publicity and not much was expected from its box office performance. However, it surprised one and all as earnings jumped dramatically after a not so great Day 1. The weekend was great and it sustained beautifully in the weekdays too.
There were murmurs that it might not be able to collect much in Week 2 due to the release of the biggie Judwaa 2. But surprisingly, it has managed to withstand the Judwaa 2 wave. While Friday collections were Rs. 91 lakhs, the collections on Saturday were at Rs. 1.66 crore while on Sunday, it was Rs. 1.75 cr. This takes the 10-day collections of the film to Rs. 16.15 crore. There’s also a holiday today owing to Gandhi Jayanti and that would also give the film a boost.
Hence, it seems like Newton would definitely cross the 20-crore-mark in a few days and it remains to be seen how far it can go from there on.
