Ileana D'cruz
After ruling the South film industry (mainly Telugu cinema) for almost 5 years, this gorgeous beauty Ileana D'cruz made a sensational debut with Anurag Basu's Barfi! An unconventional debut in every sense of the term, Ileana displayed a rare maturity and confidence despite being pitted alongside seasoned actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Ileana looked every part the Bengali girl Shruti and conveyed a lot through her expressive eyes. She is surely a front-runner to bag most of the Best Debutant awards next year. Ileana will next be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor in Raj Kumar Santoshi's masala entertainer Phata Poster Nikla Hero.

Sunny Leone
Easily the most hyped debut of the year was that of Sunny Leone's in Jism 2. It was the first time an international adult film star was debuting in mainstream Bollywood. Sunny had the men folk in a daze right from the time the first promos of Jism 2 came out. Sunny oozed sensuality and sex appeal like never before and went all out in this erotic flick which got a phenomenal opening. Acting wise, one hopes she will get better with time. Sunny will soon begin shooting for Ragini MMS 2.
Alia had a debut which most newcomers can only dream of. She could have been launched by her own father Mahesh Bhatt, instead it was Karan Johar who took Alia under his wings and gave her the role of the rich, spoilt, brat Shanaya in Student of the Year (SOTY). Considering that SOTY was a campus flick, Alia fit the bill perfectly. However, it would be interesting to see the kind of roles this 19 year old decides to take up in the future. As far as acting is concerned, there is scope for improvement though she did shine rather well in the song and dance sequences. From what we hear, Alia has been signed by none other than Imtiaz Ali for his next film Highway starring Randeep Hooda.
In one of the best films of the year-Vicky Donor, TV actress Yami Gautam managed to get noticed even though the film didn't revolve around her. As Vicky's (Ayushmann) better-half Ashima, Yami looked beautiful and made a more than decent debut. After doing TV for a while, Vicky Donor certainly gave Yami that big break in Bollywood. This PYT (pretty young thing) will next be seen opposite Pakistani heartthrob Ali Zafar in E. Niwas' Aman Ki Asha.
Like a whiff of fresh air, Diana Penty oozed remarkable freshness in her debut film Cocktail. Portraying the rather complex character of Meera, a simple Indian girl who moves to London, Diana hit all the right notes delivering a confident performance for a newcomer. Despite being pitted alongside biggies like Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, Diana managed to hold her own in key moments of the film. Her signature moves in the party anthem of the year- 'Tumhi Ho Bandhu' - had men drooling. Here's hoping to see more of this babe in the days ahead.
