Siddhant Chaturvedi reveals how Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt supported him during his low phase: “Ranbir thought his film Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year would be his Munna Bhai MBBS”

Siddhant Chaturvedi’s film career began with a bang with Gully Boy (2019). Though it starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead, the dashing actor became a rage, thanks to his portrayal of MC Sher. Sadly, his subsequent films like Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021) and Phone Bhoot (2022) sank without a trace. Gehraiyaan (2022), which was released directly on Amazon Prime Video, got widespread viewership though it was Deepika Padukone who got talked about more. Siddhant, however, bounced back with Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan (2023). The Netflix release was widely acclaimed, and it gave the actor the much-needed validation and boost. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Siddhant Chaturvedi opened up about his roller coaster journey and also shared his meaningful interaction with Ranbir Kapoor.

Siddhant Chaturvedi revealed that Ranbir advised him to continue working and not compare himself with his contemporaries. Siddhant stated, “Ranbir doesn’t go to parties. But he spoke to me at length when he called me over to [his house] to chill. I told him, ‘I don’t know bhai, kuch chal nahi raha’. He said, ‘Keep working, don’t get agitated about other people doing 100 other things or being seen’. That is his way of doing things.” The young actor also revealed, “Ranbir and Alia Bhatt are the only two people who messaged me after Gehraiyaan.”

That’s not all. Ranbir Kapoor said that actors might expect certain films of them to become classics. But that might not happen while the film they might not have much expectations from will become a sensation. Siddhant said, “Ranbir thought his film Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year (2009) would be his Munna Bhai MBBS (2003)… He said, ‘Jab tu expect nahin kar raha hoga, tab chalegi film’. I was not expecting much from Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan. I said, ‘Okay, we have made it for a target group, those people will give it love’. I didn’t know so many people would like that film.”

Siddhant Chaturvedi also narrated in the same interview what Ayushmann Khurrana said about facing a low phase. Siddhant said, “Ayushmann said that the one good thing is this phase happened at such an early age, now I will know how to handle things [at a later stage]. He told me, ‘Right now, phoonk phoonk ke kadam rakho’.” He further shared that even Vicky Kaushal supported him.
