Audiences have loved and enjoyed Ansh as the charming and innocent Dhruv in Don’t Be Shy. The young and dynamic actor steps into a challenging and comical role of Sumit for his upcoming film Nakhrewaalii.
For Ansh Duggal, stepping into a skirt for Nakhrewaalii was about much more than a change in appearance. It meant challenging his own perceptions and discovering a perspective he had never experienced before.
The actor admits that the transformation was harder than he had imagined. “As an actor, you have to strip away all your vanity,” he says, recalling the unfamiliarity of looking at himself in the mirror and seeing someone he barely recognised. The experience required him to let go of the self-consciousness that often comes with being seen and judged.
Ansh added, “I went into this film thinking I was going to play a woman. I came out of it understanding a little more about what it means to be one.”
Ansh says he is proud to be part of a story that could encourage audiences to look at these everyday experiences differently. And in taking on a role that challenged both his appearance and his perspective, the actor found that the most meaningful transformation was not necessarily the one audiences would see on screen.
Nakhrewalli is set to release in theatres on 30th October.
