Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, who is gearing up for his role as a cricket coach in the upcoming film Ghoomer, recently shared his thoughts on his mother Jaya Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai.
Speaking about watching his mother on screen, Abhishek told Instant Bollywood, “It’s always emotional. With my father, I am able to view his work as an actor, but with my mother I can’t. So I am a terrible judge of her work because for me, that’s maa. So I can’t disassociate that emotion.”
Abhishek expressed his desire for the "two female members" of his household, namely his wife Aishwarya Rai and his mother Jaya Bachchan, to engage in more professional endeavours. He said, “The one thing I can say to the two ladies in my family is I hope and I pray that they do more work. Because as viewers of cinema, both Aishwarya and Mom, I think have already contributed so much but there’s so much more to give now. And I really do hope as a fan that we get to see both of them do a lot more work.”
As anticipation builds for Ghoomer, a sports drama directed by R Balki, Abhishek's fans can expect to witness him in a never-before-seen avatar as a cricket coach. The film centres around the journey of a paraplegic woman, portrayed by Saiyami Kher, who emerges as a star bowler for the Indian cricket team under the guidance of her coach. Alongside Abhishek and Saiyami, the movie also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles. Scheduled to release on August 18, Ghoomer is also set to be premiered at the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne.
