The David Dhawan directed film Judwaa 2 released a week ago to a good response from the audience and critics alike. After taking a flying start on its opening day the business of the film witnessed steady growth over the weekend, managing to make it past the Rs. 50 cr mark in three days.
At the close of its first week the total box office collections of Judwaa 2 stand at Rs. 98.08 cr. But with its collections on day 8, the film has managed to blow past the Rs. 100 cr. mark while at the same time creating history for its lead actor Varun Dhawan. In fact, Judwaa 2 will make Varun Dhawan the youngest actor to enter the much coveted Rs. 100 cr. club. If that wasn’t all Varun will not only be the youngest but also the fastest superstar from the younger generation to enter this club. Interesting another point to note is that with the collections of Judwaa 2 going past the Rs. 100 cr mark, the film is more than likely to become Varun Dhawan’s highest grossing film with expectation stating that the film will close business with a collection of approximately Rs. 140 cr.
Apart from this Judwaa 2 that is well on its way to become one of the biggest money spinners of 2017 will be Varun Dhawan’s second consecutive Rs. 100 cr blockbuster within a single year. Another interesting point to note is that with Judwaa 2 passing the Rs. 100 cr. mark Varun Dhawan joins Akshay Kumar to become the second actor to have two releases cross 100 cr. within a single year.
But the film isn’t creating history only for Varun Dhawan, instead Judwaa 2 has also propelled director David Dhawan to the forefront by becoming his biggest directorial since the inception of the Rs. 100 crore bifurcations that came into play.
