Dangal has done something that no other Bollywood film has ever done before. The film has managed to enter the Rs. 300 Crore Club well inside a fortnight. The feat has been accomplished on the 13th day itself, what with Rs. 9.23 crore more coming in. With this, the film's collections now read Rs. 304.38 crore. Now that's unprecedented as no other film has ever crossed the Rs. 300 crore mark in such quick time. However, Dangal has done that and with this it has gathered yet another record to its name.
For Aamir Khan, this is now his second back to back triple century. He scored one a couple of years back with PK which went on to accumulate Rs. 340.8 crore in its lifetime run. While that number should be crossed within three weeks itself by Dangal, one waits to see further records that are added to the film's name in days to come.
So far in Bollywood only four films have managed to enter the Rs. 300 Crore Club. Its proud entrants are:
Aamir Khan [PK: Rs. 340.8 crore, Dangal: Rs. 304.38 crore]
Salman Khan [Bajrangi Bhaijaan: Rs. 321 crore, Sultan: Rs. 301.5 crore]
Now that Dangal has managed to surpass Sultan lifetime as well in 13 days flat, it is also the biggest grosser of 2016 releases, hence justifying its standing as an All Time Blockbuster.
For director Nitesh Tiwari, this is a huge leap into the big league. Lifetime total of his earlier two films were Rs. 7 crore [Chillar Party, with Vikas Behl as the co-director] and Rs. 40 crore [Bhoothnath Returns]. To enjoy a score of Rs. 7, 40 and Rs. 304.64 crore* (and still counting) is stuff that dreams are made of and it would be quite a task for him too to take it to the next level for his film to come!
