When promos were being shown, I was not too keen on going for the film. Maybe it was the bias regarding Harman. I was pleasantly surprised by what Harman has done. He has done well. He can emote and what a dancer. Fantastic. Yes they do compare him to Hritik but give him his space guys. He will come into his own. Ashutosh Gowarikar's stories are Hatke and this one too is good though everyone seems to be complaining about the long stories that he takes up. What's your Raashee? with 3.5hrs of running time is long but it is time well spent.
What’s your Raashee? Adapted from the novel ‘Kimball Ravenswood’ by Madhu Rye, is the story of Yogesh Patel (Harman Baweja) who is called to India to get married. With the impossible task of meeting 176 girls, he devises a way of meeting 12 girls one of each Raashee (Sunsign). What follows is a journey worth taking and watching. Priyanka Chopra plays the twelve characters and she succeeds in bringing a tear in the eye (as Anjali), mild consternation (as Chandrika) and warm love (as Pooja). The film is a departure from Ashutosh’s earliers sagas as he tries his hands at comedy. This film would be a light comedy in the Hrishikesh Mukherjee genre, with Darshan Zariwala playing a sly David-ian role. While the end makes you re visit all the characters in swift rewind, you are happy he gets the girl of his dreams. Songs for each character makes the film drag but you must commend Ashutosh for scripting the various characters and applaud Priyanka for getting under the skin. Music by Sohail Sen is lilting and catchy. It is a simple film for difficult times. Should be enjoyed by all.
