One goes in with tremendous hope for an Ashutosh Gowariker film. And I am happy to say that Ashu sir has not disappointed us one more time. No matter what your raashee is, What's your raashee (WYR), is a film that will be enjoyed by everyone. WYR is the story of an NRI, Yogesh Patel, who has gone abroad for education. His wealthy grandfather back in Gujarat, annoyed by the selfishness of his rest of the family, decides to leave all of his property to Yogesh when he gets married. Upon learning about this, Yogesh's family uses a false excuse to immediately call him back to India. Here, Yogesh faces one of the biggest dilemmas of his life; his brother has put himself in an enormous debt that he cannot repay unless Yogesh marries as soon as possible. This way, the grandpa's wealth will allow them to pay off his debt and save his family. Being a sincere guy that he is, Yogesh decides to help his brother and agrees to marry. His uncle, who has self-appointed himself as the person in charge of showing the prospects to Yogesh, quickly pulls up about 170 girls based on Yogesh's matrimonial ad. But Yogesh uses a book, titled What's your raashee, to help narrow down his choices to only 12 girls from each raashee. In the next few days, Yogesh meets each of the 12 girls. He finds them all attractive and in the end, faces an almost impossible task of choosing the right one. In WYR, Ashu sir enters a territory that very few directors have entered before. Although there have been several movies with multiple roles, none has really developed the characters in as much detail as in WYR. Each character has its own charm and leaves a long-lasting impression in the viewer's mind. The well-thought progression of the story ensures viewer's complete attention. The humor factor is maintained in moderate amount throughout the film and hence keeps the movie in an enjoyable tone. The cast is nearly perfect. Priyanka delivers an unprecedented performance in each of her 12 roles. Although still no match to Priyanka, Harman has significantly improved his acting. All the other characters in the movie have done an excellent job. It was a little surprise to see that each of the 13 songs were played in full length in the movie, which may turn some viewers off. However, each song is different from the previous one and picturized superbly. The background score by Sohail Sen quite nicely matches the story and the tone of the movie. WSR also shines in the technical departments. Cinematography was impressive. The dialogs were sweet and light. Editing was top-notch. Although WSR builds a tremendous curiosity in the viewers about who Yogesh would pick as the bride, the ending of the movie may leave some viewers unsatisfied. It seemed that compared to the well-thought character development of each raashee, the ending was not given enough attention. Perhaps, this is the result of changing the ending from the book, on which the movie is based, in the last moment. Despite the lack of the best ending, WSR is a must-watch movie. It is worth every penny of the ticket. The best part is that it will leave viewers arguing and discussing about which of the 12 girls they would pick.

I just got the chance to catch this movie at the Toronto Film Festival, Although it's extremely long, This is definately a breakthrough performance by Priyanka, she carries all the different characters so well that you hardly notice thats its the same girl playing each rashee! Overall , the plot is quite simple and is exactly how you imagine it to be, The movie keeps your attention throughout and is quite interesting since all the girls are so unique and different from eachother. Harman did good for his role, but priyanka is the star of the movie! As for who he picks, it stays a suspense till the very end and as for those who are wondering which rashee Harman is in the movie, he is a Scorpio! You'll def catch a few laughs and enjoy this movie if you have 4 hours to spare :) Priyanka has outdone herself!
