the movie is one time watchable. simple comedy although the plot is a bit complex but very simply depicted in the movie so a good job by rohit shetty. i really liked Aayesha in the movie. The first part of the movie is good till Ajay starts unrevealing the mystery. Performance wise the movie was average. I don't think the movie is that good to be seen again. https://hiteshrawat.blogspot.com

After the rib-tickling comedy, Golmaal, Rohit Shetty gives us a suspense-comedy in the guise of Sunday. Sehar(a rather voluptuous Ayesha Takia) is a dubbing artist who seems to have a weak memory and somehow can’t remember one day in her life, yes you guessed it happens to be a Sunday. What ensues is an array of incidents and characters that try and fill in the gaps for our damsel in distress. Prime among them is the love-bitten corrupt cop (Ajay Devgan), a struggling actor (Irfann Khan) and a street-wise cabbie (Arshad Warsi) The basic premise of the movie is of course the search for the truth and the screenplay engages the audience in this quest along with the on-screen characters. This is a hallmark for any good suspense flick and Shetty does a great job in that department. In many scenes, Shetty places in the camera at interesting angles, which adds a certain quality. Shetty also has a good eye for action, which is evident from the cinematic chase and hand-to hand combat sequences in the movie. My favourite one is the chase sequence atop the roofs of Chandni Chowk. The humor in the movie is mostly thanks to Arshad Warshi and Vrajesh Hirjee (who plays a Souht Indian Karate expert!!!). Irfann Khan’s contribution to the comedy scenes may seem deadpan to the untrained eye, but it is in fact his trademark style, which is in fact brilliant. Devgan’s attempts to make you break into a laugh are not always successful but are quite noble. Barring the background score and two item numbers (one by Tushar Kapoor and the other by Esha Deol) the music score of the movie is nothing extra-ordinary. Golmaal falls under a new genre of movies that is fast turning into a financial bankable venture. With Bhool Bhulaiyaa making it big in the previous year, more and more movies are wiling to cash in on the Suspense-Comedy genre. Although the climax and the suspense are lacklustre, the overall movie is a good experience and easily falls into the category of ‘Paisa Vassol’ flicks. Don’t expect award winning performances or other similar moments. Sunday is a typical entertainer which should be viewed for its smart comedy and even smarter suspense plot. My rating - *** stars.

Ajay devgan after disappointments in a commercial masala movies like cash , Aag partners with his friend Rohit shetty who has given us Hard hitting Zameen and comic Golmaal to come with a Thriller – comedy Sunday . so does it too disappoint No it actually justifies its thriller – comic nature to the core and gives a very good Entertaining ( time – pass) film and comedy is better than stupid Hey babys or partner . Sunday is a story about Sehar thapar( Ayesha takia ) who keeps on forgetting things but she gets into trouble when she forgets about a Sunday ( missing Sunday as they call in film) when she has met A taxi driver , his friend (Arshad warsi and Irrfran khan ) on that Sunday and also met a person who was shot dead that night . Everybody thinks Sehar is a killer except a Rajveer Radhawa( Ajay devgan who also happens to be Sehars Fiancee) and then he tries to find out the Missing Sunday and also the reason behind this murders . Sunday is a very interesting concept put on paper by Robin Bhatt and he does a very good job . Screenplay by Robin Bhatt ,Tushar Hiranandani ,K. Subhash is like a mountain the film keeps ur interest for 15 mins then goes downer then again goes up and same . Dialogues by Farhad-Sajid are awesome ( except the choo chaa choo chaa from Ajay devgan which looks good earlier but then becomes irritating later on ) . Film editing is very loose by Steven Bernard particularly in first half and also the song ( Pyar to hona hi tha ) in second acts as a bump in a film . Music by Sandeep chowta ( missing Sunday ) , Daler mehndi ( loot liya ) , Pyar to hona hi tha ( suroor ) , Manzar ( Raghav ) , kasmakash ( shibani Kashyap) is very good though placement of Pyar to hona hi tha could have been better . Loot liya is a full on masala song which may make u go and dance on seats . Rohit shetty does good work in Sunday but its not to his levels in zameen and Golmaal . here he goes for too much style which affects it slighty . some of the situations would have made more impact if done just in a normal way rather than doing it in a stylish way. Though I would never forget him for considering Tushar kapoor and Esha deol as worthy of doing item songs . Specially look out for entry of Tushaar kapoor its really funny he is given such a intro . Ajay devgan well is decent here but sometimes tried to look cool which goes against personality and that icecream well it looked childish not needed at all imo . Ayesha Takia is quite natural here and actually acts well but looks Fatty . Anjana Sukhani just had to look hot and didn’t have much of a role . Vrajesh hirjee , mukesh tiwari are all decent in their limited work . Now the real stars of Sunday are Arshad Warsi and Irrfan khan . the 2 gets in a awesome combo and brings laughter and sometimes even Audiecnes attention back . specially look out for the don3 , Himesh reshammiya , bhoot , Ravana act . both are simple awesome . looking forward to their krazzy4 after this . Overall Sunday is a very good Comic thriller and one that actually keeps ur attentiton till end . Climax may seem weak but it was appropriate imo . 3.5/5
