A cheap trick bereft of the Adi Chopra magic................................. There are numerous times in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' when Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan) keeps saying that it's God who is scripting this love story. Well, if that's the case then the almighty happens to be a rather lousy scriptwriter. Aditya Chopra's anticipated directorial return is lukewarm; there may be an extraordinary love story behind every ordinary jodi according to the tag-line but the film is firmly ordinary. Chopra, unlike his other films doesn't cast the canvas wide this time, delving only into a marriage arranged by fate between Surinder and Taani (debutante Anushka Sharma somehow never rises above your average soap performance). But he keeps the length of the film the same, which stretches the story far too thin for it to be even remotely plausible. SRK fits decently well into 'ordinary-man-trying-to-be-awkwardly romantic' garb as Surinder hitting the ji-spot with his humble Punjabi demeanor but his alter ego, Raj (the guise he assumes to attend dance classes with his wife!) is old SRK in a new bottle and not one bit refreshing. As if to emphasize the lunacy going on in the name of a story, Taani falls for Raj never realizing for one instant that it has been her husband all the time! Raj's over the top performance looks so cooked up that sometimes even you, let alone Taani, will wonder if it's two different people. The film takes too long to build up, and about as pacy as a turtle on a morning walk. The repetitive moments (the whole dance gig outlasts its welcome), self referential gags (once again YRF's Dhoom gets a mention) and ungainly plot twists pretty much kill off any salvage value left in the film. This one won't warm the cockles of your heart, unless you are an SRK worshiper or Anuskha's college mate, a bunch of whom were right behind me screaming up a racket right all through.

The movie is about a common man with as common name as “Surinder” aka “Suri” (Shahrukh Khan) and a girl next door “Tani” (Anushka Sharma). They both get married under unavoidable circumstances. Suri is average working class human and Tani is bubbly, enthusiastic, full of like Modern Indian Girl with fire in her belly.The incidence kills the spirit of Tani. She told she would never be able to love again and give love to Suri but she would try to be the best wife. But Sury who had been in love with her at first sight, is hell bent to get her love him. He wants Tani to love him as he is. His triumphs in doing so is what this story is about. Suri observes Tani’s fascination for “Heroes” in bollywood movies while watching movies with her. He asks his hair stylist friend Bobby (Vinay Pathak) to transform him into a stud. And he does that and gives birth to “Raj”… Suri’s another avatar who just wants to see Tani Dancing in her dance class. Wearing Tight Jeans, Tight T-shirts with most bright colors and weird combination in the world, Raj bumps into Tani at the dance class. By some mistakes, he has to appear as partner with Tani. He had no plans to continue as Raj, but had to due to the bonus of getting able to dance with Tani every day and to know her better. What happens next is a fun fair and a family film. I won’t disclose more as I think everything is already said about the story of the movie and we shall try to keep it as secret as possible. The story is unusual, unique and never been told in Hindi Cinema. The protagonist played by a person who is labeled as most romantic hero of bollywood is appearing in most unlikely avatar. The heroine of the movie is not as per strict standards of Yashraj Banners and is as good as any other girl we see everyday. The story does not have locales of Newyork, London or Europe (the movies now a days have made us believe that there are stories to be told only about NRIs. Aajkal Indian me Indians rahte hi kaha hai?). The story does not happy chiffon sari clad beautiful female protagonist. At first reactions, we may reject many parts of the movie, but when you do some deep thinking, you come to know that Shahaditya has not let down the story. They have been honest to it. They could have brought unbelievable twists in the tales and could have presented Raj as most fine romantic character. But they have gone by the surroundings of the characters in the movie and had been loyal in bringing out characters which are real to the story and its happenings. Thats why Raj is not pure sophistication but is modern rustic jaat young man with his own rough edges. Nor Tani is a sample of unachievable sculpture of glamor. Do you think that Yashraj shall never attempt such story? Do you think Shahrukh who has been accused always about doing typecast roles of romantic interest of already engaged woman, shall not try his hand at something as different and unique as Suri? Will you write off the guts of these guys? Well, then you shall not demand experimentation at the first place.

Absolutely atrosious, crap, pathetic! This film was meant to have logic and be made for the common…  

Absolutely atrosious, crap, pathetic! This film was meant to have logic and be made for the common man to link with! But in fact its the exact opposite. The film has glaring flaws in the script and some of the most biggest glitches ever! If you dont believe me then just answer this question: How could your wife not recognise you if you just had a haircut, and got rid of your mostache? Is that even possible? She stays with Raj more hours then with her husband but still she sees no similarities in the face,character,voice! This is completely unforgivable! SRK is pants in this film! Pathetic! How can you sign up for a film and play two characters in the story and not even consider trying to change your voice/accent?!!? SRK needs to watch Batman: The Dark Knight and learn from where he has gone completly wrong in RNBDJ! No one will ever be able to relate to this stupid film where the director wants you to leave your brains at home, usually you would do that for a comedy film like golmaal and not expected to do this for a supposedly realistic film like RNBDJ. Aditya Chopra has completly lost his touch! I guess you can expect that when you direct a film after soo many years! Its a warning to him to make sure he makes films regularly to keep in touch but after seeing this film im not sure i want him to make anymore movies! This film is not even a patch on his earlier films like DDLJ and Mohabbatien! SKIP IT COMPLETLY and wait for the DVD. This film is a SUPER FLOP! Its even worse then Sawaariya because the whole of RNBDJ is made only in 3 sets. SRK's house, the barber shop and the dance hall! How pathetic is that.

In one word the Movie is Awesome. I don't understand how can Taran Adarsh give only 2 Stars to such a movie whereas he has given 4 stars to crap movies like Karzz. This movie definitely deserves 4 stars. The movie is a Simple Love Story but very well told. The screenplay & dialogues are wonderful. At no point one gets bored during the movie. Its a very Funny & entertaining movie. It more so touches the heart because its a Love story of a common man like you & me. After long time there is a movie which has a universal appeal, which will touch the hearts of a person staying in a Metropolitan City like Mumbai / Delhi and also of a person staying in Rural Parts of India. The movie belongs to Shahrukh all the way. He has proved that how he can do different type of roles which such an ease. Be it the common man Surinder Sahni or the Funky Raj both the characters of him bring in the smile on your face. Anushka is wonderful in her debut movie. She nowhere seems to be a newcomer & her looks make her a dream wife of a common man. And not to forget Vinay Pathak who whenever enters the screen brings a big smile on everone's face in the cinema hall. Finally I would Laud Aditya Chopra for giving us such a wonderful movie. Keep it up & do make more movies with SRK in it. Do go for this movie once and then you will want to see it for the second time. I have seen it already twice and haven't had enough of it & want to go for it again. ADI - SRK "Rab Ne Banadi Jodi"

Rab ne SRK & Anushka ki Bana Di Jodi, its really a very sweet love story, The Fantastic Movie, RNBDJ is going to be a Biggest BlockBuster of The Year, SRK shows his Talent he done a common man surinder shani Brillant Superb & He Proved that is he not a King, He is always King of all Kings, Brillant Acting done by SRK, Anushka, its a Best & Genuine Performance Ever of SRK, Anushka is too Good in acting, Superb, Beautiful & Talented, Aditya is Genius, he makes RNBDJ a Magical Hit. Allover rating is 5 out of 5

Shahrukh is the king of romance...whatever age he has....make over is excellent in two different getups. Simple story in extra ordinary way. Anushka is looking sweet...carry her part well. Vinay pathak did his lifetime best role against the superstar. He felt his presence deserving contender of best supporting role of the year. Music is good, but not as good as DDLJ. Direction was A1. Film will do descent business. Taran....pls rebrush ur basics. When public like us can makeout which film is hit or flop the how u mess with ur ratings...Hope u don't charge extra for your stars.
