RAAVAN - A LOSE ALL PROPOSAL FROM START TILL END

The film saw the lights of cinema halls and multiplexes on 18th June 2010 and what a visual ruckus!

Raavan is surely the modern Ramayana, narrated from the Sita Haran episode till the victory of good over the bad with slight changes in the original story of Ramayana with the awful, doer of bad deeds yet fearless Raavana was in fact a good soul with an heart of love for Sita and the soft corner in the minds of Sita for Ravana due to Rama's doubting her character and banishing her from Ayodhya.

*The modern day Mahabharata- 'Raajneeti' got released in the same month of June, a couple of weeks before Raavan.

Coming on to the technical and presentation aspects, Raavan is a never expected relegated work from the master story teller, Manirathnam and his genius team of cinematographers - Santosh Sivan and V. Manikandan Yes. The film lacks the visual delight throughout and any amateur of today can film it the way these two ace DOPs have re-presented the vision of the film director on the celluloid.

The Editing designed and thought over by Mani Sir has been the treatment of Flashback series. Remember, in Yuva, Mani sir beautifully utilized the treatment of expanding the screen time from the point of start of the film where the accident takes place over the bridge. But dear Mani sir allow us to reveal to you this that the so thought novel treatment of rolling back into the time in RAAVAN by your editor, Sreekar Prasad, just makes the movie more boring and predictable for the viewers. AR Rehman seems to have lost his magical touch over the tunes he is composing (even the film music he won the Oscar awards for was not of the standards what the Madras Mozart is famous for).

In the film Abhishek Bachchan plays the title role of Raavan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays Sita, Vikram (the much wasted) plays Rama and to the surprise, Govinda plays the symbolic Hanuman, Ravi Kishen as Ahiravan and Priyamani as Surpankha. Watchout Bollywood biggies for Priyamani. She is sleek, dusky, hot and with a ability to deliver with husky voice.

Watch Raavan for Abhi-Aish and Priyamani.
