PK: - A JOURNEY WORTH WORSHIPPING FOR ALL Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt :- These names are enough to bring about the Golden Memories of the Munnabhai Series and 3 Idiots. Now when they combine through a coarse of 5 years for a movie, expectations are bound to be sky high. There was a lot of curiosity as to what will the movie be about and will it be as phenomenal and sensational as the previous ones by Hirani Sir. Well, everything is answered in this 2hr 33min flick which impresses one and all. I won’t reveal the story here but just provide some shadows to what the movie is about and how the things transpire. PK (Aamir) lands in a desert of Rajasthan and is being robbed of his prized possession which leads to a journey of search which in all senses is no less than epic. Aamir’s journey is a visual delight to all. He meets Bhairon Singh (Sanjay Dutt) who is a Rajasthani and guides his young and unknown friend in times of need. Through his advice, PK heads to Delhi which is where the story moves ahead. In Delhi, he meets Jaggu aka Jagat Janani (Anushka Sharma) who is a budding reporter. The trust factor led to PK revealing his story to Jaggu and it is just superb to watch as a viewer. Jaggu’s father (Parikshit Sahni) is upset with her as she had fallen for a Pakistani guy Sarfaraz Yousuf (Sushant Singh Rajput). What PK portrays is a true and real scene of the mentality of the people on Earth, the fact that how blindly we follow God and the people who work as the ones who can lead to God. The manner in which religion related issues have been shown would bring about joy on our faces but it is indeed the hardcore reality of this World on the whole. Viewing this movie from the point of view of PK made me feel so unwanted in this World. The system and working is tough for all to understand. Yet, blindly, myself included, we follow this system. Who started this? What is the use of this? Did GOD demand this? DO we need to take hardcore measures to get things done and impress God? These are some of the questions raised by this one and the manner of presenting it seems so realistic and true. The way the question is raised on the so called gate keepers of God is the thing to watch in this movie. Given the quality of people associated with this one, we can expect it to be good in every aspect and it mostly is. PK has one of the best 1st half Bollywood has ever seen or witnessed, it is just splendid in the way it has been presented. The aura changes in the 2nd half but it doesn’t shed away from the content and focuses on giving it a quality finish. Well, even though I have praised it, this movie is certainly the weakest of the ones made by Raju Hirani but still, it is one of the best of 2014 which proves that he is a Champion when it comes to film making. This movie lacks in terms of the intensity and depth generated by Munnabhai MBBS, 3 Idiots and Lage Raho Munnabhai. But the Direction is spot on by Hirani Sir again. We can see his flavor all through the movie. His expertise of portraying the most simplest of scenes with utmost perfection is depicted again in this movie. The script is very well written by Raju Hirani Sir and Abhijit Joshi. Yes there are a few minor flaws but it can easily be overlooked. Editing is also done by Raju Sir and it has been very well done. Cinematography is C.K. Muralidharan is top notch, one to admire and respect. The best thing about PK are its mind blowing Dialogues. I would state a few which I remember well :- “ Hamara Khuda itna bewafa nahi ho sakta ki hum Ladkiyon ko school bhi na jaane deâ€, “Gandhiji ke photo ki value sirf ek tarah ke kaagaj pe hi haiâ€, “Ek baar gaya hun moon par, badi Lul jagah haiâ€, “Lagta Hai Bhagwan ko nariyal pani mein maza nahi aa raha†etc. I haven’t seen such wonderful and catchy dialogues for a longtime now. Coming to the music, I had heard the whole album long ago and felt that the songs would be situational. It turned out to be true and just as I had said to some of my friends, “Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu†sung by Sonu Nigam did bring tears in my eyes. It is such a song which brings out all the emotions, hits the right zones and the video adds to the intensity. Dil Darbadar by Ankit Tiwari is also melodious whereas Chaar Kadam by Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal provide a serene simplicity. Tharki Chokro fits perfectly as does Nanga Punga Dost. All in all, the music is simple and Shantanu Moitra needs to be credited for it. Mr. Perfectionist himself Aamir Khan can be proud of what he has done in PK, it can be placed in one of his finest works till date. He carries the movie on his own with ease and grace. Anushka Sharma does a phenomenal job and I was literally surprised watching it, she acts brilliantly all through the movie. I guess working with the best brings out the best in you fits perfectly for Anushka. I was so happy to see Sanjay Dutt back, missed him so much. No wonder he is my favourite and I loved every glimpse of his act. Sushant as Sarfaraz has done a very good job and those scenes in Belgium have been shown beautifully. Boman Irani and Parikshit Sahni do justice to what they have to deliver. Saurabh Shukla had an important role of Tapasvi Maharaj and he did well to keep up with the tempo. All in all, PK is indeed a wonderful movie which needs to be watched by all. It asks the right questions and the manner of portraying it is what wins the battle. I will rate it 4.25/5.

PK - The title itself gives us enough curiously to watch the movie... Aamir Khan - even with the most challenging character, he performs beyond brilliant, his dedication and hard work has definitely paid off... Bravo! Anushka Sharma - being the female lead, she excels her role... Her happy go lucky and cheerful character keeps one entertained... Sushant Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani as supporting artists were a pleasant watch... Storyline - surrounding among God and Godsmen, the storyline somehow reminds you about the 2012 release OMG... PK is beautifully written... In the midst of comedy and drama they certainly didn't miss out the moral... Music - one would consider the tracks of PK out of the box, however they are entertaining in the film.. My Personal favorites are Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu and Love is a waste of time. Overall PK is a SOLID entertainer for the year 2014... When it comes to Aamir Khan , Raju Hirani and Vinod Chopra films one definitely can't go wrong!!

It actually transpired in 2008 in Nebraska in the United States. A Senator filed a lawsuit against God, seeking a ruling against "God's harmful activities". The grievance got instantly dismissed by the court because God could not be notified for the lack of a proper address. Much earlier, in 2001, in an Australian movie THE MAN WHO SUED GOD, starring Billy Connolly and directed by Mark Joffe, a fisherman defies an insurance company which rejected compensation for a destroyed boat, since, the insurance company claims, it was damaged due to an 'Act of God'. Distressed, the fisherman files a claim against God, naming church administrators as ambassadors of God and thereby the respondents. And now we have our very own Kanjibhai [Paresh Rawal], a businessman, filing a lawsuit against God and challenging the insurance company, which refuses compensation for a destroyed shop because of an earthquake, since, the insurance company argues, it was destroyed due to an 'Act of God'. Troubled, the businessman files a claim against God, naming various godmen or dharmagurus as delegates of God and by this means, the respondents. Be cautioned! Paresh Rawal brings up sensitive issues in OMG - OH MY GOD!, discussing the Almighty and godmen. In fact, he mocks at the malpractices of phony godmen, takes pot-shots against superstitions and the unfounded rituals that we sightlessly pursue and hits out at the money-making industry that religion has developed into in the present day. Chances are you may find his sarcastic and scornful statements offensive. Also, a graceful silk dhoti, gold circlet/headdress and jewel-studded ornaments… that's the way God was depicted in most Hindi movies of yore [YEHI HAI ZINDAGI]. But films like VAAH! LIFE HO TOH AISI! [2005] and GOD TUSSI GREAT HO [2008] made an exception, portraying God in a modern avtaar, like the Hollywood movie BRUCE ALMIGHTY [2003] did. Now Akshay Kumar appears elegantly dressed in formal suits and designer outfits, depicting the role of Lord Krishna in OMG - OH MY GOD!. OMG - OH MY GOD! is an adaptation of the enormously admired play 'Krishan Vs Kanhaiya'. For those who have viewed the play, get ready to be surprised by some fresh sequences/episodes that have been integrated in the movie. But those who haven't watched 'Krishan Vs Kanhaiya', then watching its film interpretation should be a fine experience. It has all the elements that make a movie work: an interesting premise, amusing episodes and an underlining message that settles with you. Kanji Mehta [Paresh Rawal] is an atheist, who runs an antique shop. For him, God and religion are nothing more than a business proposition. He purchases idols of God and sells them as antique idols at double or triple its original price. His wife, on the other hand, is a devout believer. When a slight tremor of an earthquake shakes the city, it causes the destruction of only one shop in the entire city -- Kanji's shop. The insurance company invokes this act of God and promptly rejects the claim. Frustrated, and left with no option, Kanji decides to file a case against God on the premise that if God is responsible for his loss, then it is God's responsibility to compensate him for his losses. Kanji sends legal notices to the various high priests and heads of various religious sects. In the court, Kanji argues his own case, not because he doesn't trust any lawyer, but because it's difficult to find a lawyer who is willing to put God on trial. The proceedings begin. An agitated crowd gathers outside the court premises and upon sighting Kanji emerging from the court, run to attack him. Just as Kanji begins to lose ground, a man enters... riding a bike. He swoops Kanji off the road straight on his bike and speeds off. The man introduces himself. His name is Lord Krishna... the God. OMG - OH MY GOD! carries a social message, a significant one, but the best part is, it does so without losing the wit and humor. Most importantly, it doesn't get preachy, nor does it deviate into the sermonizing mode. The film demonstrates Kanji as a nastik or a non-believer in God at the very outset, who, paradoxically, uses religion to run his business. The episodes in the first hour raise a chuckle, in fact you wear a smile ceaselessly. The turn of events in the latter part gives the film that extra sheen, thus raising the bar. The courtroom drama is transfixing and the underlying message that God dwells within us is profoundly heartwarming. Director Umesh Shukla keeps you involved in the on-screen happenings, courtesy an absorbing screenplay. Also, Umesh's choice of actors for supporting roles adds a lot of sparkle to various sequences. On the flipside, the film is stretched in the second half [more towards the final stages]. Also, the execution of a few sequences is plain ordinary. To cite an instance, the introduction of Akshay could've been more dramatic and spectacular. OMG - OH MY GOD! is the cinematic adaptation of a play, but in keeping with the splendor of Hindi movies and the requirement of the script, the sets/production values [right from Kanji's shop to his Bhuleshwar home to the courtroom] are most appropriate. There's not much scope for songs in the movie, but the 'Go Govinda' song is full-on energetic. Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal -- this is a deadly combo when it comes to satirist flicks. The duo is by now famous when it comes to keeping the audience in splits with their faultless humorist timing. Paresh Rawal is acknowledged as a supremely accomplished and consummate actor of our times. The veteran carries the film on his shoulders and executes this challenging character with candor. He's the show-stopper, the scene stealer. Akshay kumar is significantly present in the second half and is fabulous in a role that seems tailor-made for him. His sequences with Paresh contribute enormously to the delightful moments. Mithun Chakraborty is incredible in a role that has negative shades. Om Puri is exceptional in a cameo. Mahesh Manjrekar is effective. Govind Namdev leaves a strong impression. Nikhil Ratnaparkhi is satisfactory. Murli Sharma and Poonam Jhawar are alright. Sonakshi Sinha and Prabhu Dheva sparkle in a song. On the whole, OMG - OH MY GOD! is a thought-provoking adaptation of a massively successful play. A movie tackling a sensitive and an untouched subject matter, it will find its share of advocates and adversaries, but the social message the movie conveys comes across loud and clear and that's one of the prime reasons why OMG - OH MY GOD! becomes a deserving watch. OMG 3.5 Star and PK 4.5 why

Giggles, smiles and laughter were the audience response in cinema hall while watching Aamir Khan’s new movie “PKâ€. Over a period of time Aamir Khan has developed a habit of ending every year with either mindless blockbuster embedded with over-acting or magnificent performance with intelligent storyline. New Rajkumar Hirani’s directed PK is all about later part of aforementioned statement. Last year I criticized Aamir’s over-stretched acting in brainless Dhoom3 but with PK he has changed my mind which can last till his next release. There is no doubt about it that PK is going to be a BIG blockbuster but the same time it is a fantastic presentation by troika of Vidhu Vinod Chopra the producer, Rajkumar Hirani the director and Aamir Khan the actor. This deadly combination has done it again after 3 Idiots. To some extent PK gives a feeling of a movie which is inspired by Jeff Bridges’ “Starman†and Tom Hanks’ “Forest Gump†but due to smart writing by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijit Joshi “PK†is novel product in itself. Since Rajkumar Hirani has appeared as director he has amazed us with phenomenal stories. PK is another feather in his cap. His technique, screenplay with deep message and performance oriented approach make him one of the most notable directors of today. PK is no different. It has a unique storyline, hilarious comic moments and deep rooted message which carries politically correct stair on today’s Indian society without hurting anyone’s emotions. No doubt Rajkumar Hirani has done another wonder on silver screen. His direction and story seem immaculate but there is slight glitch in the penultimate scenes of the movie in which a bomb explodes on railway station and one of supporting actors Sanjay Dutt dies. It seems this scene has been thrust without any logical reason but as director/writer Rajkumar Hirani has done magnificent job.

P.K. , a fantastical comedy-drama by Rajkumar Hirani, mocks and highlights various societal beliefs. Rajkumar Hirani follows the tried and tested formula of his, light hearted comedy coupled with a strong social message. While its no '3 Idiots,' P.K. doesn't fail to impress. Amir Khan is brilliant as always in his portrayal of an alien astronaut (P.K.), who has landed on Earth for a research expedition. PLOT ( *MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS* ) : As soon as he lands, the 'remote' which must be used to summon his spaceship is stolen. With no way to communicate with his people, he is left wandering around and searching for the mystical looking device. Being an alien, he's unable to understand the faiths and beliefs of us human beings. He starts asking questions which leave the onlookers baffled. During his quest for the remote he encounters Jaggu (Anushka Sharma), a journalist. She is fascinated by his story. Intrigued by his questions, she sensationalises them on the television. He takes on Sadhu Tapasvi ji,who incidentally happens to be Jaggu's family guru and had ruined her relationship with Sarfaraz(Sushant Singh Rajput) by a malicious prediction. *END OF SPOILER* Sanjay Dutt and Sushant Singh Rajput are great in their extended cameos in the movie. Acting performances by the side actors and supporting cast was better than satisfactory. Boman Irani and Saurabh Shukla, both veterans, seem underused in this rather longish movie. Being a movie inclined towards the mockery of blind followers of various faiths and dogmatic individuals practicing bigotry, the movie is a brave attempt in this highly radical society of ours. The movie is comedic and funny, and will keep you entertained throughout. There are a few loose ends in the script, which are barely noticeable to be fair. Due to similar themes, the movie may be compared to Oh My God (OMG). However, the plot is different, and the movie manages to keep things fresh and crisp. The setting may be unrealistic in nature, but the moral is very relevant and simple. The movie and its protagonist, though alien, preach peace, love, and 'humanity'.

Even though it is not as funny as 3 Idiots, it raised a really important issue. History shows us that people were killed by talking about religion but Rajkumar Hiriani raised the same issue in real mature manner. PK showed the world that religion is not a property of people, instead it belongs to everyone. PK also taught me that best human being would be the one who serves humanity and not the one who is religious. Although the main story is somewhat similar to OMG, (Oh My God), it approaches the subject differently. Romance between Amir and Anushka did not add anything to the story. The development of the story was little slow but it never got boring. The songs were intelligently made, especially love is a waste of time was the best. I really appreciate the way Mr. Hiriani approached the subject. This movie shows that how to forget all the differences between us and live like human beings on this planet that we call home. Comparing this movie with 3 idiots would not be fair as they both are totally different movies, with different audience. I really enjoyed watching this movie. Definitely worth watching.
