Paathshala is Anil Dhirubhai Ambani's production house Big Pictures debut film. Shahid kapoor and Ayesha takia starring Paathshala shows the actor in a completely different look. The main focus of the film is on the Indian Education system and its management. Though it has a very interesting and fruitful concept but it lacked the clarity and perfection. But the film leaves a very good impression and delivers a very good message. A new English teacher named Rahul Prakash Udyavar (Shahid Kapoor) takes admission in Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. Everything goes well until Rahul finds out that there is lot going wrong in the school. As the manager of the school Mr. Sharma (Saurabh Shukla) in the name of extracurricular activities extorts money from the parents. And the students are treated unethically and punished when these demands are not fulfilled. Rahul who is trying to bring change in the system brings out other teachers (Ayesha Takia, Sushant Singh, Kurush Deboo) to fight for these illegal activities. But this action by the teachers is not accepted by the principal Aditya Sahay (Nana Patekar). Later the situation takes a worse turn when the students are forced to participate in the TV reality shows and other media PR activities. Therefore this is the journey of the teachers and the student to escape from the unjustified demands of the school and the overstress. Shahid Kapoor got a completely different role to play in this film. He as a school teacher maintained a good balance between drama, emotions, tragedy, professionalism and comedy. Ayesha takia was good enough for her role and even Nana Patekar's acting was balanced. Child artist Swini Khare, Ali Haji, Dwij Yadav and Avika Gor added to the comic side of it. Coming to the music, Hanif Shaikh and Shaira Khan could not create much of magic with it. Though it has been directed by the award winning Marathi director, Milind Ukey but the film could not reach the perfection level as that of Taare Zameen Par, which had the same concept focussing on the Education System. Undoubtedly the movie is worth appreciating for it’s over stress on the commercialization of the contemporary education system. It has successfully brought some of the very important issues like pressure on the students and the bad effect of the reality shows on the kids. This film will surely work as an eye opener for all the parents. Overall nice movie.

Paathshala is a sweet & simple film that attempts to sort the major problems in our education system, specially the rat-race amongst the private schools that charge an insane amount of money in the name of education! the performances are superb, specially Shahid Kapoor and Nana Patekar. Ayesha Takia is perfect for the role. All in all, the movie is definitely making an honest attempt at being relevant. Kids will relate to it so take them to see it.

फिल्म देखने के बाद पता चलता है कि इस फिल्म को प्रदर्शित होने में इतनी देर क्यों लगी। निर्देशक मिलिंद उके ने बहुत ही अच्छे विषय को चुना है, लेकिन पटकथा की ओर बिलकुल ध्यान न देने की वजह से फिल्म राह-सी भटक गई है। राहुल प्रकाश उद्यावर (शाहिद कपूर) सरस्वती विद्या मंदिर स्कूल से जुड़ते तो एक अंग्रेजी शिक्षक की हैसियत से हैं, लेकिन साथ ही संगीत शिक्षक की भूमिका भी बखूबी निभाते हैं। इसमें उनका साथ देती हैं स्कूल की आहार विशेषज्ञा अंजली (आयशा टाकिया)। आर्थिक परेशानियों से जूझते इस स्कूल के प्रिंसिपल आदित्य सहाय हर हाल में इसे बचाना चाहते, हैं, इसलिए वे प्रबंधन के आगे झुकते हुए इसका पूरी तरह से व्यावसायीकरण कर देते हैं। अब स्कूल की हर चीज, हर गतिविधि पर प्रबंधन और बाजार का कब्जा हो जाता है। हर चीज महंगी हो जाती है, पढ़ाई से जुड़ी हर वस्तु स्कूल से खरीदनी पड़ती है। संगीत, खेल, किताबें, कैंटीन सब कुछ महंगे हो जाते हैं। शिक्षकों को यह सब नहीं भाता, लेकिन उन्हें भी अपनी नौकरियां प्यारी हैं। इतना ही नहीं, अपनी छवि सुधारने के लिए प्रबंधन बच्चों का इस्तेमाल विज्ञापनों और फिल्मों में भी करना शुरू कर देता है, जिसका भुगतान भी बच्चों को अपनी पढ़ाई के साथ खिलवाड़ करते हुए करना पड़ता है। इस तरह इसमें दिखाया गया है कि किस तरह बच्चों का टीवी और विज्ञापनों के व्यावसायिक कार्यक्रमों में इस्तेमाल हो रहा है और इसका बच्चों के जीवन पर क्या असर पड़ रहा है। यह फिल्म में स्कूली छात्रों की जिंदगी को पर्दे पर दिखाती तो है, लेकिन सब कुछ इतनी तेज और कामचलाऊ अंदाज में होता है कि यह किसी टीवी शो की तरह लगती है। इसमें यह तो बताया गया है कि स्कूली बच्चों से जुड़ी समस्याएं क्या-क्या हैं, लेकिन उसका समाधान स्पष्ट नहीं है। फिल्म के संवाद जमे नहीं हैं, हालांकि अभिनेताओं ने अपनी जिम्मेदारी निभाई है। ‘पाठशाला’ अपने दावे के अनुसार फिल्म के ‘हीरो’ को एक क्रांतिकारी के रूप में साकार नहीं कर पाती है, हालांकि शाहिद कपूर ने जो कुछ भी किया है उसमें अपना सब कुछ देने का प्रयास किया है। फिल्म में उनका आकर्षण बरकरार है। नाना पाटेकर बेशक बेहतरीन हैं, लेकिन उन्हें उपयुक्त भूमिका न देकर उनकी प्रतिभा का सही इस्तेमाल नहीं किया गया है। नाना के व्याकरण में कहीं-कहीं गड़बड़ नजर आ जाती होगी, लेकिन अपनी आंखों और शारीरिक हाव-भाव से वे खुद को बखूबी अभिव्यक्त करते हैं। आयशा टाकिया बहुत ही खूबसूरत और बच्चों का खयाल रखनेवाली टीचर के रूप में अच्छी लगी हैं। बस, इससे ज्यादा और कुछ नहीं। सौरभ शुक्ला स्कूल मैनेजर के रूप में जरूरत से ज्यादा उभर कर सामने आते हैं, जिससे खीज ही पैदा होती है। अंजन श्रीवास्तव चपरासी की भूमिका में जमे हैं और सुशांत सिंह तथा सुष्मिता मुखर्जी ने अपनी भूमिकाएं ठीक ढंग से निभाई हैं। शिक्षा के मसले पर ‘3इडियट्स’, ‘तारे जमीं पर’ और मराठी फिल्म ‘शिक्षणाच्या आईचा घो’ जैसी सार्थक फिल्मों की कड़ी में ‘पाठशाला’ कहीं नहीं ठहरती।

BhootNath Meets 3 idiots . If you replace University of 3 idiots with school of Bhootnath the ultimate result will be Paathshaala. How a teacher struggle to ward off the principle of school is what paathshaala is all about.Paathshaala is Utter waste of Time and Money.I wonder why shahid has been signing Movies without reading script.He should read the script first before signing any movie.His downfall already started since Dil Bole Hadippa. As far as acting is concerned all of them are bad.Except one or two songs rest of them are not tolerable. Overall Paathshaala is a Highly Disappointing Movie of Shahid Kapoor.Watch it at your own Risk.
