what i was starving for in a movie for long time..was a perfect unison of typical bolly movie melodrama and reality bite.NL is picture-perfect on this criteria.it was a stress-buster on next day to india's hope-shattering match. vipul shah ,like wakt, here again starts a profane plot with lighter notes.but this time he keeps u titilliating with well timed laughter doses even in most serious part of the movie.songs in the movie come just on time and prods to go story ahead.aesthatic picturisation of songs..most with the glimpses of india and london tourist spots-are eye candy. katrina is a total revelation in this movie- she accomplishes her demure dazzling look with her histionics as well.AKSHAY suits and elevates the character of arjun innately.his discussions and satires are quite intersting.upen patel ,rishi kapoor and other characters also perform upto yhe mark.

i have no words to say about this movie and its director vipul shah....aanken,waqt and now namaste london....vipul shah is a direcor who can handle a tragic or any other story very lightly and successfully...people may think before NL that vipul is hit beacuse of BIG B..but it's not that.....i hope we can expect more wonderful products in future. NL is movie with romance, humor, emotion but no action scenes...though it looks like poorab and paschim..but treatment is different... PERFORMANCE: after a long time, i find Rishi kapoor awsesome....i think he was good in FANAA and excellent in NL. wat to sat about akshay kumar...first as action hero than comedian and now as a actor who can gives 200% in any role whether movie is good or bad.. Katrina Kaif....what a change...when i was watching SARKAR...i found her only beautiful lady who can't act...but my myth is broken in NL...she is wonderful in thsi movie.. upen patel, javed sheikh and nina wadia justified their role

The Akshay-Vipul combo delivers yet again, and this time with not just heart but even their brain…
The Akshay-Vipul combo delivers yet again, and this time with not just heart but even their brain in place. An intellect film-maker having command over the medium of cinema churns out a story on celluloid which not just touches your heart, but it preaches, entertains, projects Indian values across the globe, hints at racism and finally makes you feel Proud to be an Indian. It projects a Diaspora of emotions and relationships in such a light manner that it leaves more impact than some of the “Critically correct” heavy duty stuff from some hard-hitting directors. Its not just a film, but an attitude. An attitude of an average Indian who might be fighting his way out on the street of London, but he has the farms of Punjab in his heart intact. The presentation leaves you as spell-bound as its content. Since this is a review, lets come to some specific film-terminology to deliver the feedback more authentically. The direction has been of an extremely high quality. A lot of thought has gone into manufacturing a quality product that is commercially viable. However it would be unfair to state that going by directors previous work (Waqt), this time that extra emotional punch was a bit missing which made us weep at the climax of Waqt. The story and screenplay by Suresh Nair are old yet contemporary. You might identify traces of many Hindi classics but yet it maintains its individuality. Jonnathan Bloom’s cinematography lends wonderful eyes to the story telling. Every frame speaks for itself and doesn’t allow you to shift your eyes on the distractions in the hall!! Himesh Reshamiya will dissapoint his critics who keep banging him for his monotonous tunes which “hit their head”. This time they will be served something soulful yet contemporary. The music offers something to everyone from Phagwara to London. So the critics can take a rest this time around!! Javed Akhtar reflects why he is considered in the top league for his work. Katrina has been presented like never before in a role, which seems tailor made for the talented actress. If the guys have a reason to wonder how every time Mr. Salman Khan manages to get the prettiest lady around, the girls will love to follow the style statement ushered by her in the movie. Rishi Kapoor delivers a commendable performance where he is as impressive in the emotional scenes as he is in the comic ones. The complexities in his life are evident on his face and yet he brings a smile on your face every time he is in frame. Upen is good and fits in the NRI mode to the hilt, just like Katrina. Others in the cast have been equally effective to the job assigned to them. So we are almost through with the Film review…Or did we miss anything??? Hey, we described the body of the film but missed out on its soul – Akshay Kumar!! Taran Adarsh was not wrong in describing him as an actor who has come of age. With this movie, Akshay Kumar will become an actor who cannot be confined to any one genre. People said he is an “action star”, he made us laugh with comedy. Now when critics were terming him as “comic star”, he has delivered a balanced, subtle and genuine performance of the Punjabi boy and he leaves an impact without trying to put that “Extra effort” in his delivery. His critics again might point that being a Punjabi might have helped his case, and the entire plot is designed around Katrina, but once the public leaves the hall, they are bound to carry along Akshay’s comedy, patriotism, emotional pain along with them. It was funny to read a review where it was stated that some other stars would have been better choice to play this role. The fact remains that after the last frame, it is difficult to even imagine someone else playing this role leave alone playing it better!! The roars of the masses on his delivering speech to the Britisher and the tears of the classes for his beer scene with Rishi Kapoor just reflect the status this actor has achieved over the time. If people love him now, they will love him more after watching the movie- Without “herogiri” he wins your heart. Might not be the central role but one ppl will relish. One of the most bankable “Big” stars at his refrained best… The movie might have a few slags in narration and few emotional misses, but should end up on the winning side being able to cater to the masses as well as classes. Best business should come from the North India and overseas. You wont lose money if you watch it… Many wont mind “losing” money for second time!!!

I watch moive since 1980 regularly. Outstanding story Line. This is the reality of NRI in usa and uk. What ever Katrina and Upom showed, these are real picture. Truely speaking little more but they didnot show it. But Director couldnot create more immotion due to poor acting of Akshay kumar and Dialogs. Movie dialogs are no more strong now a day. All invest more money on Visuals. But not in dialog. So immotion doesnt create at all. In old movies they had strong dialogs to express a story line. But now a day hard to see. Katrina perform the best as typical NRI(100%). Rishi Kapor is big actor. He could perform much better if dialog would be strong. Sometimes I saw some illogical scences. Why askhay meet upom in the mosque. And upom said I am here to change my religion-(Illogical and we are all fool) I like the movie.

Namastey London is one movie which left me spellbound for the whole length of 2 n half hours of the movie time....first of all,why did it end??? could it not have gone on and on and on....i don`t mind sitting in the hall. I am not a movie critic who would write an anlysis of the movie which i see but this is one such movie which had to be written about.I do not know from where to start.Katrina just sizzles up the screen by her presence, pure 2.3 hrs. of katrina, katrina and only katrina unlike HDKG where she appeared in tits and bits. Her beauty in this film surpasses all of her earlier ones.Good thing that she dubbed in her own voice as it brings authencity and originality in her character.Akshay just shares an awesome chemistry with her.Without him nothing could have been possible.Rishi kapoor is just excellent in his role as jazz`s father and also jawed sheikh who plays upen`s. Comedy is somthing which is inherent in this movie and also some scenes which you want to see again, again and again.Romance is there in this movie which is conveyed all through the eyes and in upspoken words. The close up shots of akshay and katrina`s eyes and emotions speak up of all the love which is there in the air.The scene where akshay tells katrina," Mujhe tumhe dekhte hi pehli nazar mein hi pyar ho gaya tha" at the start of the song YEHI HOTA PYAR is truly mindblowing. There are a few scenes which touch a chord at your heart either emotionally or comedy wise are great. All the scenes between akshay and rishi kapoor are fabulous.Be it in the park or at the bar.Akshay`s dialogue at the bar to rishi kapoor makes you feel the pain he is going through. The scenes right from the bachelors in india to arjun`s dadi asking rishi kapoor about katrina when first she vomits and then faints on seeing butter and ghee is just hilarious. The biggest shock katrina gives in the movie comes in the scenes just before the interval where she reveals her intentions during the planning of the reception leave you dumbstruck. The translation scene of akshay and katrina talking to the britishers about the greatness and facts of india is just superb. The whole hall went bonkers at this scene cheering and clapping wildly. The 2nd one was the rugby match where probably i was the loudest in the whole hall cheering and clapping among the others.First thing which makes the scene special is the dialogue between rishi kapoor and jawed sheikh ........ after the ball is snatched from rishi kapoor rishi kapoor- strategy.....yeh strategy hai jawed sheikh- kaisi strategy???? rishi kapoor- life saving strategy....jab jaan bachegi tabhi to khelenge jawed sheikh- wo kahan hai jisne yeh challenge liya hai rishi kapoor- wo wahan stands mein auraton ke beech mein baithkar popcorn khaa raha hai. it makes your stomach hurt with laughter. The rugby match could not have been won had it not been for the combined co-ordination between arjun and imran...awesome.....The match draws you into it,letting you forget everything else and you also want the combination of India and pakistan to win.The scene of arjun talking to imran outside the mosque was the most emotional between the 2.It told him about his real identity of what he really is.This and the subsequent scenes to follow this one where imran tells susan`s parents that he will not change his identity and his words to her,"i love you and i want you to love me as I am , not as what yo uwant me to become" deserve a standing ovation...Truly said,a love cannot change your real identity and you must not also do that.26 saal ki apni pehchaan ko 26 hafton ke pyaar ke liye badla nahin jaata. His homecoming also brings tears to the eyes. Speaking of tears and emotions the dance classes in which arjun says,"Main mazaak nahin kar raha hoon, meri shaadi ho chuki hai aur main dobara shaadi nahin karoonga" tells about his love for jazz. The most lovely scene is that whole one in which he tells her that after some years when they will become old and he will call her to meet him is fab..He describes her emotions better than her and she also can feel what is going through her mind. This one really sums up the emotions. The cinematography in that scene is just too good. What an excellent transition between the present and the future. The last scene is which she says NO is just tremendous. It looked so real, the emotions on her face so good you could sense the feelings in her heart at that moment.Akshay`s no resortment to any "herogiri" is the biggest USP of Namastey London. Coming on to the music, the biggest and the most surprising star is that english song in the beginning and which is used in the background also from time to time.Without it,i do not thonk that one real emotion would have surfaced.Regarding the songs, although in the cassette my fav. song is RAFTA RAFTA followed by VEERANIYA,MAIN JAHAAN RAHOON and CHAKNA but when speaking in context of actually seeing the song in the movie,in the sitauation YEHI HOTA PYAR emerges the clear winner followed by VEERANIYA and MAIN JAHAN RAHOON.Yehi hota pyar truly shows the love between the two,Veeraniya shows the pain and main jahaan rahoon is all about the memories the memories of india. Katrina looks fab in all the dresses in the movie,be it western or indian but the one in which she looked drop dead gorgeous was in the yellow dress in the garden with water. She looked truly awesome in indian dresses,be it the one for rafta rafta(orange suit, the red one and the blue one),the first scene with ritesh deshmukh, the orange saree in the wedding. She looks truly fab in salwar suits. The scene where arjun lies to his bebe about jazz made me cry..And i forgot one more thing,She looks just looks great in a pony tail with some hairs falling on her forehead. That makes her look so indian......something just happens in my heart. A salute to the director for bringing out such a beautiful movie. I am ready to go to the hall to see it "n" number of times.

This film is really very good.Any filmgoer would enjoy the film.It has every thing - romance, music, emotion, comedy, patriotism etc. And every thing is in such level that you will enjoy. One thing is missing and that is action. But you will feel the action when Aksahy would be explaining India to some British peoples. So according to me, fantastic film.

The maker of Aankhen and Waqt is back with Namastey London, and it is clear that Mr.Vipul Amrutlal Shah loves to play with his genres. Aankhen a mysterious thriller, Waqt a tear-jerker with a lesson to learn and now Namastey London...a complete family entertainer! Namastey London has everything to offer. Drama, Romance, Comedy and great music...this movie has got it all. Where to start, great direction, great acting by Akshay, Katrina and Upen, Great Cinematography, great locations and great music. Katrina's effort to sound truly indian clearly shows which adds to her great acting ability in this film as you see that Katrina is playing the role of a female londoner. Akshay works phenomenally well as always and Upen leaves you wanting more simply because of his good acting, slick looks and suave style. The only thing which this movie lacks is the variety of lyrics in the songs as the same word "Veeraniyan" is repeated about 24-26 times in the film, but no doubt the music is excellent. And although we have great actors on screen such as Akshay, there is not much to see on the cinema screen as both Katrina and Upen have a long journey ahead of them yet. To sum up Namastey London...GREAT FILM! But there is a mild lack of face-value which won't make the financial success of the film particularly high.
