I’m an advertising professional. In a nutshell, my job involves creating perceptions about products and services to make them sell more. I love my job most of the time. Except in situations when the tables are turned on me and I’m made a victim of great advertising for terrible products. That makes me furious. Kismat Konnection was one such product. Right now, I’m furious. Face it…the promos are great. The music is good. The director is Aziz Mirza. The film has Shahid Kapoor. What could possibly be wrong? Three…errr...basic things. One. The story. Two...ummm...the casting. Three. The lack of eye candy in a candy-floss film. Coming to the first, well…it’s a little late (in the human evolution cycle!) to have stories that go ‘our boy good boy – good boy in trouble - boy meets girl - girl likes other boy - other boy bad boy – girl goes oops - girl likes our boy - our boy becomes hero - girl and boy live happily ever after’. When your audience starts guessing every single scene of the film, it can’t be good. And even with a generous dose of decent music, good locations, some ‘different’ twists and turns, you can’t really save it. Which reminds me, I didn’t get why the film is set in Toronto. Set it in Mumbai and it would have worked (or not worked) just the same. Coming to the bigger issue…the casting. Well, I don’t know how to say this politely so I’ll just come right out and say it. Vidya Balan would have suited as Shahid’s mother. They just do NOT work as a regular couple at all. And the story is not that of ‘an older woman-younger guy’. Then WHAT made the casting guys give her the role of a 25 year old? Give it to an Amrita Rao or Amrita Arora or any other 20-something and it would have worked (or not worked) just the same. Which brings me to issue number three. Alright, you’ve decided to take Vidya Balan. She’s popular. She’s sweet. But whyyyyyyyy oh whyyyyyy can’t you make her atleast LOOK good for us to endure the film? A little make up, a little post-production touch-up, a little more SLEEP on her part (to hide the tiredness on her face and the shadows below the eyes) and for God’s sake….a decent wardrobe?! Thank God Shahid at least looks good anyway. But I pity in the guys in the audience who sorely missed the presence of ANY eye candy in the film. To put it plainly, Vidya looked better in the Airtel ads running on television at the moment. Now I’m gonna have to go for a second dose of ‘Pappu can’t dance’ to wipe out the memories of this one. Sigh...I wish more film makers would make films with their eyes wide open.

I enjoyed it completely. I did not find it slow like many people are saying, watched it with an open mind and loved the simplicity. People can really enjoy it if they don't go to see the movie trying to be a critic. Shahid is just to hot in Aye Pappi song, I can go again to see it just for that song, he's mind blowing. Contrary to what people are saying, I think Juhi did total justice to the role of a crazy crystal ball reader. Her and Shahid's chemistry was so good, they were really good in their scenes together.

Those who believe in sun sign and stars will definitely like this movie. basically it is said kismat can change any individuals life to any extent, but some people require some help as some uses precious stones, numerology etc but we also requires support of helping stars in the form of life partner. here in these movie i feel raj malhotra (Shahid kapoor) gets helping star (priya) which are the waves of kismat konnection story.

If one seeks pathbreaking cinema, this is not the film. However, if one is willing to refrain from seeking logic at every nook & corner, then this is a lovely joyride, albeit a tad long [the editing could have been tighter for sure]. The music is peppy, and a couple of songs, especially the title track & the one coming when the end credits roll are superbly choreographed. The cinematography is excellent, Canada's natural beauty sprucing up the visuals. Now to the performances. Shahid is excellent, and the confidence gained from the experience of Jab We Met shows. Vidya Balan is well, as usual - an excellent performance, marred as usual by a terrible wardrobe [Manish Malhotra, where are you?], but her chemistry with Shahid is crackling. Om Puri is okay in a role which does not tax him one bit; and Juhi Chawla provides adequate support [though one wishes that she gets more meaty roles]. Himani Shivpuri is superb in a cameo. The support cast is quite good as well. A small caveat: the film revolves a lot around lucky charms, talismans, and the "kismat konnection" - so you will need to make some allowance for that. That given, this is a clean, wholesome entertainer. P.S.: Was it my illusion, or was Shahid actually trying to mimic SRK (in quite a few scenes)? Dunno, but I really hope I was mistaken...

The story was perfect, slightly cliched. But that's what made the movie a bit more enjoyable because you knew it'll be a happy movie. Shahid took his role totally seriously and made it completely believeable! Vidya added to the movie. Vishal Malhotra, definitely took a lot of the spotlight away. He added comedy but his attitude was needed. Juhi added the right amount of pagalpan to the movie. Karanvir Bohra, took his slight negative role very well. It wasn't overplayed. Om Puri, could've done a more convincing job. Overall though it was a well put-together movie.

Kismat Konnection was an above average movie! I went in there expecting a typical desi movie, and although it is a conventional love story, it is told from a different point of view, which makes it all the more refreshing! Its a feel-good entertainer, and is a must see if you want to just kick back and enjoy for a couple of hours!
