Some music albums are like miniatures. Their breathless beauty emerges stroke by stroke, gradually, with patience and love that art requires and that is available only to the vision that seeks.
Jodha Akbar is one such album. While one is free to have their opinions on music - music is after all the most personal of arts - categorically dismissing an album of this stature is something I found distasteful (by the main reviewer.) It is a masterpiece, and is bound to eventually warm up the cockles of the heart.
'Khawaja mere khwaja' sparkles, while 'Azeem-o-shaan' floods you with percussion. 'In lamhon ke daaman mein' is heart achingly romantic with lyrics that are poetry personified, while 'Jashn-e-bahara' shimmers for its vocal quality.
Rehman has proven that yet again he is a virtuoso, a maestro who does not happen ever so often.
Listen to the album and derive your conclusions. Believe me, you will be pleasantly surprised.
