4.5 Excellent

If you enjoy music, if you are not prejudiced, if you have an ear for quality - quality of sound, mixing, orchestration, vocals - there isnt a sigle song in this album which will disapoint you. I am not sure why people don't tend to like Man Mohana. It is one of the best compositions of Rahman. The song is in the same league as Water. Quality. Listen to its violin ensemble and flute. Rahmans songs always takes time to grow on you. You tend to like few lines of a song at first and as you hear it more, you will find the true gem of a song. Everyone knows this but most forgets this and starts critizizing an album or song as soon as they hear it once.

Azeem-O-Shaan is supposedly sung when the name of Akbar is assigned to Jalaluddin. Picturised with hundreds of dancers, the song is as good as Ghanan-ghanan from Lagaan. Or better with its classical touch. Fell the huge drums thumping your heart with its beats. Rahman - hamesha salaamat rahe!

Jasn-E-bahaara is already a hit. A true love song with its period touch. Rahman uses his instruments such wisely that it has a truly international feel and you still can feel its Indian. Feel love growing in you from the second stanza onwards...close your eyes and relax. Javed Akthar is in form too.

Its an anticipation when you see Rahman in the vocal credits. Khwaja mera Khwaja has Rahman all in it. You cannot say its quite a qawwali but its the genere. You can feel the tablas rythm pronounced and its beautiful. Melodiuos and soothing. Its a song which is in praise of Akbar. - Shahon ka shah tu..Ali ka dulara

The only duet in the album is In Lamhon Ke.It starts like a normal Rahman melody you can relate to. But it has a beautiful element of classical music to it that will make it live long in you. Don't miss Akthar saabs words.

The instrumental versions of Jansh-E-Bahaara and Khwaja Mera Khwaja are a must hear. All in all - dont miss of a kind of an album.

The production quality of the album is again praiseworthy - UTV has launched its record label with Jodhaa Akbar. The print quality of the paper and the lyrics booklet is really good. It has also got a bonus DVD for you to chekout.
