Cocktail is an urban love story set in a metropolitan city. Cocktail has a very appealing theme. we have witnessed numerous love triangle's but cocktail is a bit different ! it has a good story but does it translate in an interesting screenplay ? Cocktail has a thoroughly entertaining first half ! there are plenty of scenes to entertain you and keep you hooked onto the screen till the interval. but the film loses its steam after the interval ! also it moves on at an uneven pace ! the slow and boring second half is the main problem here ! though the film gathers momentum towards the climax and ends on a good note ! the climax is good !
dialogues are good ! music is one the high point of the film but too many tracks are inserted in the second half ! editing could have been more crisp and the length of the movie could have been shortened ! cinematography is first rate !
director Homi Adajania does a decent job ! he entertains you in the first half but falters in the narration of the second half ! Cocktail is lovable because of its superb performances ! it belongs to Deepika Padukone who gives her career best performance ! she is superb as the carefree modern girl in the first half and amazing as the sober girl in the second ! she also looks ethereal ! Diana Penty makes a very confident debut ! she enacts her part beautifully and you cant help but love her character ! We have seen Saif Ali Khan in numerous Rom-Com's but every time he manages to impress you and cocktail's no exception ! the actor pitches in a superb performance and the chemistry between the three friends is beautiful ! Dimple Kapadia is amazing ! Boman Irani is sure to bring the house down with fun act ! Randeep Hooda is first-rate ! overall, COCKTAIL has an entertaining first half but not so exciting second half ! watch it for the Superb performances of the principle cast and their amazing chemistry.
