I find it fascinating that critics such as Taran Adarsh can rate CPD merely one and a half star, and at the same time rate Pyaar Impossible, what, three stars? Come on, that's called bad rating. Or just bad taste.
CPD has its cheesy scenes, dialogues, clichés and bad script writing, but essentially it's a really good story with some nice characters - and Shahid Kapoor only proves that he can take a role that's badly written and turn it into an entertaining, fun and sweet character whom you adore and sympathize with. Now that's called talent, and it's also where I disagree most with Adarsh's review. Because sure, Shahid's got some awesome talent and the character might not give him enough opportunities to bring out every single bit of it - but the fact that he can ace a weak character and make him seem convincing and full of life to the audiences only proves that Shahid's being fair to the character, regardless of whether the character's being fair to his talent.
Yes, CPD has some elements of School of Rock over it, but it's few elements, and besides - which Bollywood movies aren't copies Hollywood movies in one way or the other? Paa was rated a whole four stars - and that movie has elements of The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons written all over it. So please.
