Afwaah Movie

Afwaah is based on how politicians use social media to spread rumors in order to gain advantage over their political rivals.

The film, which takes place in a north Indian town, tells the story of politician Vikram Singh (Sumeet Vyas) who is engaged to Nivedita aka Nivi (Bhumi Pednekar), daughter of... a man whose party is in alliance with Vikram’s party. Nivi, however, doesn’t want to get married to Vikram because of him being a crooked politician who uses dubious means for political one-upmanship. Hence, she runs away.

Nivi gets into trouble and gets timely help from a stranger Rahab (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Vikram, who is fuming at the audacity shown by Nivi, gets to know that the person who is helping Nivi is a Muslim. He uses the situation to spread a rumor on social media that Rahab has tricked Nivi to elope with him and that it’s a case of ‘Love Jihad.’ By doing this, Vikram gets sympathy from the people and, at the same time, his motto of spreading religious hatred is also met. On the other hand, Nivi and Rahab are forced to keep running together from evil political forces despite being strangers. How long will they be on the run?
