2.5 Good

Nothing new or what we havent witnessed in self sponsored movies before. At best you can call it a Himesh Reshamya promotional film or a very very long music video of his. Its all about him, him and him. There is absolutely no scene, read again, no scene when he is not there. As an actor, I dont think he can ever play a role other than himself because how else can you accept a hero wearing a cap for more than two hours? What surprises me most is Taran Adarsh's review. Aap ka Suroor is a movie full of flaws which Taran hasnt highlighted while much better movies have not escaped criticizm. The movie has been given 3 1/2 stars but I believe it is not better than the contemporary Awarapun.

To start with, I cant really classify its genre. Its a musical love story turned thriller, and also seems biographical. The least said about the acting bit, the better. Nobody is natural including Himesh who cant give expressions and the usually sound Malika Sharawat who overacts and underacts at the same time. Her character is also not well defined. I guess the writer was not sure about her role and they just wanted her in the cast.

The story is baseless. Its about a murder and we never come to know where and how was the deadbody found and why was Himesh accused. the motive and explaination given by the real killer is absolute rubbish. And the face mask, oh come on, hasnt that era passed in Bollywood?

The screenplay is not good either. What are the autorickshaws doing in Germany? Why was the German police so helpless? Why are the Germans talking in English to eachother in crisis situations? How did the sniper know in advance that Himesh is going to stop on that bridge? Many questions, unanswered.

The music, well, better, as thats what the movie was all about. Still, listening to Himesh sing a few lines in a not-in-nasal mode, makes me wish he sings more in this mode.

To me its a below average movie that could have been good with a few adjustments.
